California Gov. Gavin Newsom pledged to house and feed the world’s homeless population this week during a whirlwind “Comeback California” tour that is designed to stave off a September recall by angry voters.
The Golden State is already cracking under the weight of the nation’s largest homeless population and one of the worst economic climates post-COVID-19. With millions of middle-class residents and business owners fleeing to red states, those left behind have seen a burgeoning lower class emerge.
Gasoline is pushing $5 a gallon, 18 million homeless pack into all the blue cities, and dilapidated freeways are strewn with trash.
Even the Atlantic outlined the hostile economic environment in a lengthy article titled “The California Dream is Dying.”
It’s against this backdrop that Newsom held a press conference Monday pledging $12 billion to combat homelessness on top of billions that have already been spent. People will be taken care of, and anyone who wants to avail themselves to the California dream is welcome, he said in response to a reporter who asked whether he expected the nation’s homeless to descend upon California with this new expenditure.
“It’s about getting people off the streets, out of incidents of crisis, and meeting people where they are and to the extent that people want to come here for new beginnings and all income levels, that’s part of the California dream,” Newsom said. “We have a responsibility to accommodate and enliven and inspire, and California’s dream is still alive and well.”
Newsom added: “I’m proud of people from around the world looking at California again for opportunity, and that, again, that should not just be for certain people. All people should aspire to that California dream regardless of their income level and regarding their lot in life.”

I saw that & was shocked Yahoo printed it.
I was half-listening to local radio hosts John & Ken yesterday. I looked for it but couldn't find it. But, I was pretty sure I heard them say that a LA Councilman interviewed 250 homeless at Venice Beach and found that only 33 were from LA. The rest were all from out of state.
So it is a complete fallacy that high rental prices are causing the homeless crises. It is the "feed a rat & you will get more" concept. More incentives & freebies lead to more homeless coming to CA.
Does Newsom think this will get him reelected? Are they going to mail out ballots to all? Go tent to tent with ballots?
I'm sure he does. He is handing out money left & right in hopes of buying votes.

I forgot to say, if people were not already in country and quarantining before July 19, they will NOT be able to enter Papua. This closure is for the province and not the country.
People sometimes ask, “what about store merchandise?” Previously, that was allowed. This is for human travel, excluding those needed to run the supply vessels.

Nope, but my mom was the youngest of 11 and she was born in 1931. She had older brothers and sisters who worked for CCC so I heard stories. Sometimes we’d be in the middle of nowhere Tennessee and they would drive by some park and talk about building stone fences or the cabins there, or developing hiking trails.
One of the state parks developed that way has been renamed Pickett CCC Memorial State Park.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has stopped counting every infection among people fully immunized with the COVID-19 vaccine who later tested positive for the virus.
So-called 'breakthrough cases' occur when people contract coronavirus at least 14 days after receiving their final dose of the vaccine.
As of April 26, 9,245 Americans out of more than 95 million fell ill with COVID-19 after being vaccinated, about 0.009 percent.
However, at the beginning of May, the CDC revealed it will no longer report all breakthroughs and instead only those that lead to hospitalization or death, as first reported by Bloomberg.
According to the CDC, nine percent of the breakthrough infections, or 835, have resulted in hospitalization and one percent, 132 people, have died.
But an expert tells DailyMail.com that now is not the time for the federal health agency to change their methods of data collection, and stress that it could lead to missing patterns in who gets sick after their shots.

During their conversation this morning Senator Johnson also reported on the failings of the COVID vaccines.

Really, the people of the world deserve the truth on this and unfortunately because of the cabal between social media, mainstream media, and our federal health agencies and big government, we’re not getting the truth. The truth has been covered up for months whether we’re talking about gain-of-function research, whether we’re talking about the effectiveness of early treatment. I can’t explain all of this Maria, all I know is something has gone off the rails here. I’m trying to look for answers. It just doesn’t make sense to me… I just received this morning data out of Israel. That shows the population is about 84% vaccinated. But the new cases of COVID in Israel are about 84% with vaccinated individuals. It certainly is lookinng like the Pfizer vaccine is not working with the Delta variant.

Is that what he meant? I just assumed he was a liberal so was talking about transgendered alphabet people.
Well this anti-unvax thing could backfire. If apparently even some Liberals are questioning it, it could get interesting.
Clapton got in trouble in the 1970s for saying some things against immigrants in Britain. Of course since then, he apologized, but many of the Left still despise him for that.
