I wintered one medium sized plant inside of rosemary. Used it fresh all winter. We harvested and dried most of our herbs last fall. I didnt touch this one plant. I also use it in bath water. chop it up.. smells so nice, Im trying to use it more as I like the fragrance
No I haven’t watched it yet. Trying to do some cleaning around here.
You can come and cook for me any day. Your meals sound scrumptious.
we have four kitties and all four were not too happy with the neighbors boom booms for many hours .. Jen and I werent that enthusiastic either. No pretties.. just noise.
All four disappeared somewhere in the condo
I buy little starts of Basil, Rosemary, and thyme and just keep them in small pots and as I go by them I just touch them as I LOVE the smell. I especially love the smell of the Rosemary and Basil. The last two years though there has been no starts of Rosemary at the garden center. I wonder why? I am not much of a cook so I don’t use them for cooking. Just the smell.
.
No, you couldn’t. I know for sure there was temporary fencing put up during the time of the George Floyd riots in 2020, and then there was a plan that started in 2019 to change the black metal fencing around the White House to a taller fence which is what is pictured.
The sidewalk along E Street, which is the road between the Ellipse and the White House, has been blocked off since 2017.

“Im trying to use it more as I like the fragrance”
As I said in my recent posting to Jane, I LOVE the smell of Rosemary and Basil. I am NOT a good cook so I don’t know how or when to use herbs. So I just buy small starts and put them in small pots so I can just go by them and rub them and get the smell from them. :-)
If we ever get a TFT get together there are a couple of us who love to cook and can handle it for those who dont really like to. scratch pies and cakes are not my thing. I had a few pat desserts I would make for company (easy ones.. like baked alaska.. and it really is easy and impressive). I buy deserts on occassion at our fresh market of local/chain called Heinens in Ohio(and I think they have a few stores in Chicago). Even though Im a vegetarian most people I know arent and for company would NEVER think of doing tofu or weird stuff. I do meat for jenny about 4 times a week. We do have protein every day just not always in meat. Usually 2-3 sides with main course. I do most of my prep sitting at table. Back is just very rough with the advanced scoliosis. Gardening and culinary are my two escapes..but with both I need to be cautious.

“All four disappeared...”
Many years ago, in my first marriage, had a cat disappear for several weeks when we moved- only to reappear from the sofa LOL!
Fourth of July fireworks are certainly a strain for them.
But worth it for their luck to be born in such a land of bounty and courage.
Yours sounds way more posh then mine! 😀 I admit I’m not a cook nor a foodie. And if it takes longer than 5 minutes to throw together or involves more than one pot, I’m done for. Thus the overcooked potatoes. LOL
The chicken (baked) and carrots (crock pot) are things I’ve made before, so those turned out well.
Over the years I have burned up/destroyed many pans. Farberware mostly. Thats why whenever possible I use crock pots. Have 4.. 2 small and 2 large. The fish meal as it turned out was all pots. Do a lot of legumes, beans, lentils, potatoes, soups, chicken, pork loins, mississippi pot roast etc. in the crocks
I just wrote a long piece to post to cotton, lakeside, spirit, spunky.. really long. hit some wrong key and vanished. I really hate posting on cell phone. Dictation is helpful (sometimes)
wont be redoing it today
My dogs were always terrified with fireworks, thunder and one time I made the mistake of taking them to two events.. 4th concert with traditional ending with cannons. (1812 overture) Other mistake was taking them with me to the Rutherford B Hayes library/grave/house/museum for a civil war reinactment.. more cannons.
“.. more cannons”
LOL!
Heck, half of Freepers don’t appreciate what our Founders did for us.
Can’t expect a simple animal to!
My cat. an unfixed male. is out again on his travels now that the fireworks have ceased.
Don’t know what he does but he comes back tore up.
Rosemary and thyme are periennels. Our thyme is a small plant but we use it in a few dishes. we have our herbs and veggies and flowers blended together in about 5 plant beds, mixture of rocks (like lakeside’s hubby I collect) m driftwood various textures of plants and various sizes. A bit like an english garde . If I ever get a computer Ill share pix. I set up two new plant beds this year. One a sanctuary & one a container area of floral & veggies & herbs. It is attractive. and along the side of our bedroom windows. Not HomeDepot containers~
awe your poor guy. The one sitting on my lap now is pretty torn up from his youth. It was Jenny’s boyfriends cat. He OD’d 3 years ago & Jenny took the cat. It was already neutered but was obvious in many squirmishes.(torn up ears, scars etc) When my Bobbie came into heat, he knew what to do.. even though he didn’t have the “equipment” so to speak. The other male in house was neutered young and didn’t have a clue what Bobbie was up to. For female cats I like them to go through two heat cycles before neutering.
Well I have been chatty tonight. Sorry I waylayed the thread.. When someone posts about food, I get all excited.
LOL I guess you can all be glad that LONG post disappeared :)
Do you do any essential oil diffusion? My absolute favorite two are lavender and rosemary. wonderful
Apparently Nashville had the biggest fireworks show in the country this year. Ours is always big, but I think usually in the top 5. Not sure if our competition cancelled their shows this year or not.
Estimates I heard is 400,000 in attendance.
“Well I have been chatty tonight. “
Appreciated it.
Thanks for the rally link.
The YUGE turnout and a random look at the people attending the rally has got to give democrats a chill:
Looks like people from all walks of life are there...
A cross section of America
Young folks, old folks, in between folks.
White, black and brown folks.
Democrats can't get that kind of turnout for Harris/Biden even when they pay people to attend.
Even with their usual promises of more FREE STUFF and more wealth redistribution from taxpayers to parasites.
