Texas Republican state legislators on Saturday unveiled a sweeping voting restrictions bill amid efforts by Republican-led states to overhaul election laws in the wake of former President Trump's electoral loss.
The bill, S.B. 7, includes several controversial provisions that critics say would disproportionately affect poor and minority voters. It also specifically targets voting practices employed this past year in Harris County, which includes Houston, by banning drive-through voting and 24-hour voting. Those practices were used by 140,000 voters in 2020.
S.B. 7 makes it a state jail felony for local officials to attempt to send mail-in ballot applications to voters who did not request them,

And, some of them become Americans before some Americans. UH, what? Guess that’s like choosing truth over facts. Hey, check out that eleven year old pedo joe. That’ll keep him distracted.
“pushing”. DOH! Lack O Cofeve fingers.
So much to comment on this article. One thing is I always find it amazing how the Democrats want to federalize everything, when they can’t get their way, knowing they have all the help they need from the Republicans.
Boy that’s gonna put Shreeker Jackass, Al Greene and assorted other corrupt sell-out blacks drawers in a wad but something tells me they’ll be OK.....some judge out there...well you know
I suspect that if all election cheating was eliminated the democrats would become a 30% minority party.
“I’m fine with this, but doesn’t the legislative session end on Memorial Day?”
That’s what I was thinking too. Winds up that this headline doesn’t match the link.
As it is, they did pass ‘reforms’, but much of it was watered down by our lovely GOP here, who had to be dragged by the teeth just to pass Constitutional Carry.
One solution to voting ID that I’ve heard of has been to use the RealID driver’s license that not everybody has to have... Yet.
A birth certificate that is in a secure format. Proof of residential address (utility bills work),passport... Helps validate the DMV applicant. Formal RealID indentification only cards are also issued through the DMV.
It’s not a total solution but it could be a solution to the voter ID in the near term.
Disproportionately affect poor and minority voters
Have to turn off TV to go and vote
Can’t be let ahead of line
Confused on what to vote for
No free stuff for voting
Don’t get a check for voting

Being privy to the way too many women think, my wife supports repeal of the 19th Amendment.
Voting is for those who have a positive stake in the system and can get off their a$$es to vote in person.
MHO.
I tend to agree. Of course, some will come back and say that the fact that they pay income taxes is enough.
But, one thing is for sure, all these concessions that have been dreamed up to make voting “easier” and “more inclusive” are criminal.
I’ll tell you what, you can’t make it to the polls, a van will show up at your home, 1 Republican 1 Democrat poll watcher, show your ID and cast your vote. Lets see if the Dem’s would accept that. Doubtful.
There will certainly be a special session, at least for redistricting. Maybe they will take this up as well.
AP said Texas was “planning to make voting harder.”

Any picture should do. Take a pic of self, copy to paper stating this person is a citizen of US, address and state plus zip code. Have notarized and should be good enough to vote
