One of China’s tallest skyscrapers was evacuated on Tuesday after it began to shake, sending panicked shoppers scampering to safety.
The near 300 metre (980ft) high SEG Plaza in Shenzhen, southern China, inexplicably began to shake at around 1pm, prompting an evacuation of people inside while pedestrians looked on open-mouthed.
Bystander videos published by local media on Weibo showed the skyscraper shaking as hundreds of terrified pedestrians ran away outside.
Building collapses are not rare in China, where lax building standards and breakneck urbanisation lead to constructions being thrown up in haste.

—”Maybe it’s a Weeble.”
Would Weebles be made by Wobblie workers?
The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), members of which are commonly termed “Wobblies”

“Don’t go to sea in a Chinese submarine.”
You’re just angry because they thought of the screen door feature first.

Now, I didn’t see any movement. And I don’t speak Chinese. But they showed a variety of views:
GROUND VIEWS: I noticed nobody really videoed up at the building except for a glance which you expect they would. I suppose they fully recognize that, being identified as the one who released video to the world showing the structure visibly shaking might result in a lower “social credit score” and the commensurate loss of one or more kidneys, never mind a liver or a heart.
VIEW FROM ABOVE IN THE BUILDING: I didn’t understand what he was saying as he videoed all those people below swarming around like confused and frantic insects (because I don’t know Chinese) but I involuntarily laughed as I imagined the person taking video saying “Look at those idiots running around down there? What is wrong with them?”
lol

Have heard of Chinese fire drills, unsure about Shenzhen City shifting skyscraper safety?
Bears repeating:
“Don’t go to sea in a Commie submareeeeee...”
Blurb...blurb...blurb
Wobbles are foe weebles.
It appears to be leanin’... Italy is going to sue for copyright violation...
The video suggests that Godzilla was strolling down the street.
Into a grammar school...into a small village...it boggles the mind.
Heh, that view from somewhere up above looking down sure did look like they were running from Godzilla...
Nice recall!
—”the leaning skyscraper in Shanghai?”
Probably safer than the one in San Francisco?
And clearly cost less.
The buildings 0bama wanted in the US since the Chinese are so good at building them and their infrastructure (which collapses from time to time).
Not until you've made absolutely sure that the screen door shuts *tight*...
But the guy running the video thinks watching the people scramble is more important than capturing the building wobble....
In solidarity with Gaza
Italy's medieval / renaissance construction was so good, they put up a building lopsided and it's still stayed up for *centuries*.
And people think the UFO tic tacs are by the chinese.....
Maybe it was a design feature, not a bug.
