WE only got ‘spit on’ about 6am this morning, so looks like Job One is hauling water to my newly-planted taters, today!

Grrr! This time last year, we were 8” AHEAD on rain - this year we are 3” behind.

However, I’ll take dry over too wet, any growing season. I can always get water where it’s needed.

Hopefully there will be enough rain that I do not need to water today. They predict four or five more days of rain here.

I have not generally grown potatoes, but this year I decided to grow some in fabric gardening bags. (So I can relocate them carefully if I want!)

Soil in the bottom then potatoes eyes up. (about 1 month ago) Added additional Soil / Rice hull / EZ straw mix last night and will keep doing that until the bags are full!

So...??...I initially fertilized the soil with a Potassium and phosporus heavy fertilizer...Should I be adding more? At what intervals?? Growth is currently pretty heavy!

No rain here, either. It is seriously dry. Last year I was besieged with crabgrass, so I put preventer down, but that needs water to activate. There isn’t enough hose in the world to take care of it all, especially with needing to keep up with some new seeding areas. Woe is me. I haven’t seen the crabgrass germinate yet, but haven’t looked too closely for fear of finding it. And the lilacs are in bloom, so .... it is probably up and at ‘em, too.

Thanks for the ping. We were expecting the Bob Cat today to finish up the grading where the shed is located. Now that the concrete is all finished, there’s about 2-3 feet around the basement that needs the dirt put back against it.

However, they changed the forecast to include rain, and if it’s not done today, the forecast is for rain for the next 2 weeks. Since they didn’t show up today, apparently we are gonna be waiting a while longer.

Still a bit cool at nights here, so waiting to transplant the heat lovers, and the lemon trees are hanging out in the greenhouse.

I am working on business/office stuff this weekend. So other than watering, I’m not doing much outdoors. I still have about 100 sq. ft. to get prepped to plant something.

About 85% of that is located next to the Walnut tree. I may have to finish planting hubby’s taters - I told him this spring he was preparing for way more than he would have time to do-Ha I was right AGAIN. 🤣
