I learned about William Wilberforce and his fight against slavery in Britain over 30 years ago when I got involved in the prolife movement. Ive always loved that verse.

William Wilberforce led a campaign against the British Parliament to abolish slavery in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. During the course of his intense efforts, Wilberforce came to a desperate place of discouragement, feeling he had absolutely no more strength to continue. In this condition, he was about to give up, when his elderly friend, John Wesley, lying on his deathbed, was informed of his friend William’s distress. Wesley requested pen and paper, and with a quivering hand, wrote these words,

Even the great men that changed history needed a word of encouragement now and then – so be encouraged, and be an encourager! back then leftist were all for free speech, free association, etc etc....it was all about freedom, liberty and they had a great fear of totalitarianism....
like my leftist history teacher in HS....it was all about questioning govt.....to this day I think about his teaching and how it actually applies to our current situation....

A national ID is something that I have thought about for a long time. While it would be handy to have a Positive ID for voting, the libertarian slaps me upside the head...”Privacy Concern!!!”
Using (and requiring) such an ID to vote would verify that dead people, ghost voters, multiple voters, etc. wouldn’t happen.
Positive ID vs Personal Privacy is a Gordian Knot that I’m not in a position to untie at this time.
