Is that a bird or an iguana?
Yard rats. They are smarter than they look. In fact, nearly everything is except Joe, Nancy, kameltoe, and Chuckie. IMNSHO. :)
Squirrels don’t seem like they would make a good pet
I have seen many portraits with people holding Ferrets and even Minks. Usually, the human in the portrait appears to be wealthy. I haven’t seen paintings with Squirrels as pets, but then I wasn’t going around in search of such portrayals.
Some landlords will allow their tenant to have Ferrets, even another animal usually seen only in the wild, Sugar Gliders, a sort of nocturnal Tree Possum.
I know Brenda had a pet beaver.
I remember kids in the oil and gas camps in the West having pet chipmunks in their pocket.
Around here, they’re more popular as food.
Might find the occasional raccoon as a pet though.
Oh look! A squirrel!
Excuse me, but your birdfeeder is empty.
Which would explain the annoyed part.
Anyone who doesn’t believe squirrels are smart has never put out a “squirrel-proof” bird feeder.
I think squirrels are tough for eating, par boil and bake a raccoon and it’s pretty good. Frog legs are better. Rattlesnake is ok but not much meat. If you gotta eat wild game? Deer, elk, moose are all good but quail, partridge, pheasant are all better. Beef? It’s what’s for dinner. Rabbit taste like chicken. :)
From National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation after the runaway squirrel scene:
Clark Griswold: “Where’s Eddie? He usually eats these things.”
Catherine, Eddie’s wife: “Oh, not recently. He read that squirrels are high in cholesterol.”
The site is very well done with interesting writing. Thank you for posting. It also has a number of relevant articles on fungi which I have used in a publication.
It could take that kid’s fingers right off.
That’s a good point. I’ve seen some insane squirrel obstacle courses that they are able to figure out.
Neat sequel with more really smart squirrels.
