Apparently the former employee and gunman was a fan of Friendship is Magic, and more specifically Applejack, who was the focus of his final message on his pony focused Facebook page an hour before the shooting.

My wife and I were in Baltimore one weekend, several years back, for a couple of Orioles games. While walking around the harbor we kept seeing all these people dressed in colorful and rainbow horse costumes, kids to adults. We couldn’t figure out what the heck was going on, but later that night we saw a local news piece about the Brony convention. Weird. Really, really weird.

Since the insane asylums were shut down, many loony tunes are just roaming around. Some live in city underpasses. Some are able to pretend to be normal for a brief time to get a job, even in the government. Some are even elected as Demonicrats to political offices.

I can understand liking My Little Pony (well, I can’t, but there is animation I do like, so for sake of argument...). But I can’t understand labeling oneself a Brony. Having a big chunk of your identity be that is just bizarre.

I never expected to be a fan of the show, but there is something about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that connects with nerds and geeks.

It’s really creepy. The problem is that the police knew he was a threat and chose to ignore it. That leaves people to question the motives of the authorities. Was that an acceptable risk to them?

Killing people without a motive is irrational. I can’t help but believe there is a place where these things are encouraged and planned like 4chan.

He had a very sick pedo mind. His death at such a young age is a blessing. And those he killed were totally innocent and should be remebered. This is what you get for feeling everyone should be heard and understood. Its also what you get when you take away the bullys in school. He felt empowerd because no one was kicking the crap out of him daily in school as he deserved. Getting his ass kicked daily would have heightened his profile in school and he may have gotten some help. Instead he was just ignored because it " wasnt fair " to pick on his deviant mind/ life style. when i walent to h.s. in the 70's, a brony would have righy had his ass kicked several times a day until they pulled him/her out and found them the help they needed. . .

53, brony for nine years. I'm one of the older members of the fandom (most are 20's and 30's), but far from the oldest.
