Covid: Brazil has more than 4,000 deaths in 24 hours for first time
BBC ^ | 04/08/2021

Brazil has recorded more than 4,000 Covid-related deaths in 24 hours for the first time, as a more contagious variant fuels a surge in cases.

Hospitals are overcrowded, with people dying as they wait for treatment in some cities, and the health system is on the brink of collapse in many areas.

The country's total death toll is now almost 337,000, second only to the US.

But President Jair Bolsonaro continues to oppose any lockdown measures to curb the outbreak.

He argues that the damage to the economy would be worse than the effects of the virus itself, and has tried to reverse some of the restrictions imposed by local authorities in the courts.

Speaking to supporters outside the presidential residence on Tuesday, he criticised quarantine measures and suggested without evidence that they were linked to obesity and depression. He did not comment on the 4,195 deaths recorded in the previous 24 hours.

To date, Brazil has recorded more than 13 million cases of coronavirus, according to the health ministry. Some 66,570 people died with Covid-19 in March, more than double the previous monthly record.

"Brazil now... is a threat to the entire effort of the international community to control the pandemic," Dr Miguel Nicolelis, who has been closely tracking cases in the country, told the BBC.

"If Brazil is not under control, then the planet is not going to be safe, because we are brewing new variants every week... and they are going to cross borders," he said.

There is more than enough evidence that it works and it has been around long enough to know that it is safe. From what I know is that originally was developed against river blindness and more recently was discovered that apparently it is also effective against this crazy virus. But like many other drugs which may be useful against more than one disease, unless it has been approved by the FDA for a particular purpose even so it may be safe, frowns upon its use. Not to mention that money speaks louder than words.

I think that's the problem. They have already adopted the tin hat mentality and now the chickens are coming home to roost and they have the more contagious variant to deal with now so their Wave 2 is looking much worse than their wave 1.

Sure but look at post 107 (I don’t want to repost those images in case someone still uses dial up). You can see that wave 2 is much worse than wave 1 and the level of spread in Brazil seems much worse than in any of the neighboring countries that are also experiencing the onset of the winter season.

“The globalists are trying to get rid of the Brazilian leader. He is one of a few leaders who stand in their way.”

The left hates Bolsonaro as much as they hate Trump. Anything in the mainstream press about Brazil is slanted with a “blame Bolsonaro” purpose.

Is there a randomized control trial that proves it's efficacy in a wide swath of different susceptible hosts-e.g. the very old, the very young, the 20 year olds, 30 year olds, 40 year olds, the people with varying degrees of comorbidities, people starting treatment at varying phases of the disease process, etc?

Most people will still survive Covid (at this point anyways), so any drug that claims to keep people from dying from Covid has to be evaluated in this context.

I'm not even saying that it doesn't work but I'd like to see a RCT involving hosts of varying susceptibility to death by Covid before I proclaim this drug the savior of humanity.

And I still think we need widespread vaccination to stop this virus. Vaccines have repeatedly demonstrated over the decades that they are the most effective first line of defense against viruses.

That is true and yet some lying, wicked water carrier shills for our enemies will take everything they say at face value and run with it.

Is there a randomized control trial that proves,,,

Is there a RCT that proves govt mandated shut-down works?

Is there a RCT that proves masks work?

Is there an RCT that shows 6 foot social distancing works?

Are there RCTs that show vaccine efficacy in a wide swath of different susceptible hosts-e.g. the very old, the very young, the 20 year olds, 30 year olds, 40 year olds, the people with varying degrees of comorbidities, people starting treatment at varying phases of the disease process, etc?

So its ok for heavy handed government edicts without RCTs ...but I'd like to see a RCT involving hosts of varying susceptibility to death by Covid before I proclaim this drug the savior of humanity.

Aahh so you looking for a saviour of humanity - I get it.

And I still think we need widespread vaccination to stop this virus.

Like the AIDs virus vaccine? Hepatitis C vaccine?

Please keep bloviating - its informative.

Bolsonaro is the #1 globalist target for not playing into their pandemic agenda and Brazil has nearly the same population as the other dozen South American countries combined.

But you’ve got to test in order to “confirm” “cases”. Argentina, for example, had a 60% positivity rate in its testing last fall, which was the highest recorded rate in the world.

No, but like Measels, Mumps, Rubella, tetanus, pertussis, rabies, diphtheria, Polio, Small pox, Hepatitis A, Hib, etc.

Is there a RCT that proves masks work?

Here watch this 36 second video. If that isn't good enough for you, I can spend all day posting similar evidence that shows that masks do, in fact, work.

Is there a RCT that proves govt mandated shut-down works?

I don't know about that but I do know that we never actually had one of those here in America.

And all of this is beside the point. Show me a RCT proving that Ivermectin inhibits Covid in actual human hosts of varying susceptibility at varying points in the disease process. Show me that and we're good. But you can't, can you Dr. Corkoman?

I haven’t had a lot of interest in positivity rates for about a year now. It’s the death rates that get us closer to the truth. There are fewer variables. I’m not buying the globalist conspiracy to unseat Bolsanaro. the man is a freaking idiot and now the country of Brazil is paying for his idiocy and he’ll likely be replaced by an ultra leftist like Joe Biden because of his idiocy. The man literally told his entire country to “stop whining” and “quit being sissies about Covid because everyone is going to die someday”. They ought to put the man up against a wall and have him shot just to prove him right and see if he whines about it like a sissy.

Just a few people on this site I’ve been using since ‘99 have made this site become a shell of itself. Dr. G and a few other ‘experts’; - well I wish the site could have a split section for more hardcore covid skeptics versus covid believers like with Q stuff. I just ignore certain threads but to me they have significantly altered this place as the desire to appease or take middle ground or not to offend has changed the tenor and a lack of people willing to post comments so as to not get in a futile debate. These are pathetic times. I call it the age of the dumbass as we struggle to morph from the home of the free and the brave to the home of safe spaces and tattle tales.

I think you are missing some information. This or a close relative was developed as a heart worm medication for dogs. Soon it was discovered that it was effective against any other dog worms and fleas - maybe some other things. By the time we were introduced to it, it was being prescribed for cats for similar purposes. It was really expensive - the reason being that when you bought some for your animal you were also buying some to send to Africa to fight river blindness.

Thank you very much for the additional information, however I did not intent to post a “Whole book” with all the info which was known about ivermectin just the most pertinent info, which is that it could be useful for combating this crazy “Chinese virus”

Stay healthy and well, always nice to hear from other members of this Great Community and get their input.

By definition it is not an airborne virus, but that aside, The U.S. had its first case on Jan. 21st, Brazil had its first confirmed case on Feb. 26th. Not much difference there. Especially when you consider how much misinformation was being thrown around by China, the WHO and other “experts.”

Now, over a year later for both countries (with one month’s difference), 9% of the U.S. population has had the virus and only 5.5% of Brazil’s population has been infected.

Maybe it was their superior medical infrastructure! /s

“Make ivermectin available along with some anti bacterial medication to ward off any secondary infection, as well as anti inflammatory medication like prednisone prescribed by a physician. Try to catch it at the first sign before it gets out of hand.”

Yes, this worked for me and several people I know and it worked quickly, within 20 hours after 1st dose.

The U.S. has a larger population of Chinese than Brazil. Many went to the city of Wuhan to celebrate the Chinese New Year and brought back the virus. I don’t think as many brought back the virus to Brazil. New York City contains the largest ethnic Chinese population outside of Asia, totaling 682,265. New York has been described as the epicenter of the virus infection in the U.S. Los Angeles has more than 66,782 ethnic Chinese and San Jose has 63,434 ethnic Chinese. The Seattle-Tacoma area has 45,000 ethnic Chinese population. Brazil has about 350,000 ethnic Chinese. Do you think this has something to do with the degree of infection in the U.S.?
