Former Jets cornerback Phillip Adams shot and killed five people including a beloved emergency room doctor, his wife and their two grandchildren before turning the gun on himself in South Carolina Thursday, in a horrific spree that his dad blames on his years in the NFL.
“I think the football messed him up,” Adams’ father, Alonso Adams, told Charlotte television station WCNC.
The ex-player killed Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70; his wife, Barbara Lesslie, 69, and 9-year-old Adah and 5-year-old Noah Wednesday evening at a home near his parents in Rock Hill, according to police.

There was a well known case several years ago, I can’t remember the names - the killer took FOUR YEARS to go back and kill the doctor’s wife and son. No one realized who did it because of the time that passed, he blamed him for a failed procedure.
Then after another seven or so years passed, he went back and killed the doctor and someone else. He drove over several states to do this. The second time they figured out who it was.

The past ten years have been high and the last two years seem outrageous

In my limited experience it ends up in the “We saw this coming long ago” column.
I know one person who became irrationally violent after recovering from a particularly bad auto accident. He had some pain issues but it was mostly his personality changed, over a period of time, after the accident. He grew up with many advantages. Upper middle class family. Good people who cared for each other. A picture perfect family inside and out. He was the kind of guy everyone loved to be around.
After the accident he started by yelling at his wife, then the kids. Finally ended up beating his wife for no reason until she left him and moved out of state.
Harassed his father into an early grave. His older brothers warned him off his mother, themselves and their families. When he died four or five years ago. Not one person attended his funeral.
I’ve known others that proved in grade school that they were headed for a bad end
One killed, on separate occasions, two men. First time got off on a technicality, second time served time for manslaughter. He terrorised countless others. He left his three children so scarred the youngest two vowed never to have children. He was finally gunned down by a couple of men close to a family he was terrorizing. The verdict the jury reached was “He needed killing.”
Another guy spent what would have been his senior year of high school in prison. No one was surprised. He spent most of his life behind bars. Got killed in prison in his 60’s. Finally met that guy that was meaner and badder than he was.
Kind of long winded but these are three cases I know the particulars of.

So sad. My husband had a TBI from a fall down stairs. No question in my mind it was football for this guy. Playing sports is doing this to our children. Head injuries are way up for girls playing sports.
Its not CTE 50 years ago players wearing less protective gear didn’t go into houses for mass murder.
Its drug and thug BLM culture.

FIB used to keep such numbers... crimes broken down by race of victims and perpetrators. Not sure if I have seen those recently or if I would rely on their accuracy if I had.

That makes sense.
If you are using a high level of painkillers, and then have to stop, the pain is magnitude times WORSE.
Not excusing this, but to be honest I know people who have done some rather horrible things when the opioids are cut off. One reason I will deal with pain and never take them.
