Why I’ve zero intention on ever getting one. Never had a flu shot in my life, never had the flu I’m aware of. Same will be true of COVID. If I catch it...oh well....I catch it.

Do epidemiologists do anything other than “warn”? The whole professesion centers around looking for things that haven’t happened yet to be worried about and finding ways to get other people worried.
Which I believe is very common, like the cold and flu.

You always need to keep them scared and stirred up. Fear is a powerful motivator.
You had the national security era; then you had the environmental apocalypses of: global warming, ozone hole, DDT, trash production, Rain Forest, acid rain, running out of potable water; and now you have diseases. Zika, West Nile, bird and swine flu, were just the precursors.
-Politicians offer the fix and throw themselves out front.
-Government agencies and departments are going to tax and regulate us to safety like they did with the war on drugs and global warming.
-The news and Hollywood will make a lot selling a story which people watch 24/7.
-Experts, pundits, some institutions get to self promote.
-Business will figure out a way to fleece their pockets with public money (the government today picks the winners and losers): many hospitals, insurance, big pharma (billions).
Where’s the down side? Ah yeah- liberty, the economy at a macro level, peace of mind for the people, sanity and pragmatic decision making...
The topics change, but the basic idea behind it never does.

I read just recently, that another ramification of taking the vaccine in the middle of the pandemic is that when the virus mutates that the vaccine can actually make it worse next time around. Similar to taking an incomplete dosage of an antibiotic. The virus comes back even stronger next time.
