Many have made analogies between the woke “cancel culture” phenomenon and the Chinese Cultural Revolution. I think this is a great analogy, but I think that another, perhaps better, analog has been overlooked, namely the “Disintegration Directive” of the East German Stasi.
Briefly, the Disintegration Directive, also known as the Decomposition Directive (officially Richtlinie 1/76 or the Zersetzung in German) was the approach that the East German secret police (the Stasi) took from 1976 onwards to crush dissent, or even potential dissent.
Before 1976, the Stasi used the conventional gulag-and-torture methods to control political opinion in the DDR. But in the 1970s, the DDR was seeking international recognition, so they needed a lower-profile method of suppressing opposition to Communism.

Credit Suisse and Nomura said on Monday that they could take big hits from their exposure to a US hedge fund.
The fund, reported to be Archegos Capital Management, triggered $20 billion worth of selling on Friday.
Some analysts said the selling could blow over, but others are worried it could have a wider impact.

Two major banks have said they could face big losses from their exposure to a hedge fund, leaving traders and investors wondering what happens next.
Among the banks hit by the wave of selling was Credit Suisse, which said on Monday that it and other unnamed lenders were selling positions related to the fund. Traders were guessing about who was exposed ahead of the US market open.
Reports over the weekend said Archegos Capital Management had been at the root of about $20 billion worth of sales of companies such as the US media group ViacomCBS and several Chinese tech stocks including Tencent and Baidu.
Archegos manages the wealth of Bill Hwang, a protégé of the famous Tiger Management hedge fund who pleaded guilty to wire fraud in 2012. Its website has been taken offline, and the firm was unavailable for comment.

Michael McKibben and his researchers at Americans4Innovation have identified who has taken over the US, how they did it and he joins Douglas Gabriel at AIM4Truth name names.
He says the coup is being managed by DLA Piper, which, as the law firm for the Pilgrims Society and the Prince’s Trust, is the most Deep State of all law firms.
Until a couple of months ago, DLA Piper was also the employer of America’s first Second Gentleman of the United States, Douglas Emhoff, who stepped down from his position there just prior to Kamala Harris’ inauguration to avoid conflict-of-interest concerns.
The official documents they’ve found show that Kamala Harris is a British Commonwealth citizen and they believe there’s every indication that she’s an agent of the Crown.
Gabriel claims that Harris is in an arranged marriage with Emhoff, which gives her a direct line of communication to the Queen of England and McKibben agrees, saying that what the British failed to do with the War of 1812, when thy sacked the White House and burned it down, they’ve now achieved through Kamala Harris, who’s being shoehorned into the White House, despite being very unpopular, having dropped out of the Democratic Primary race in December of 2019, with only 3% of the votes.
