Kewl!
Without something to compare it to in size, how big is the cone? 10 feet? 100 feet?...............
Smokin’ Hot!
Planet Earth doing its thing, same as earthquakes. We have no impact nor control.
Oh wow did you just see that huge magama erruption off the side! WOW
It is about twenty miles North of the capital. It s not the one the were warning about. The one had not erupted in 6000 years.
Interesting, but Hawaii volcanoes have produced lava curtain type fountains (out of fissures) up to 1900 feet high.
When we lived in Honolulu in the ‘70s we had vog, which is volcanic smoke and fog mixed. It smelled of sulphur and left a faint ash residue on everything.
Twenty miles from the capital does not seem very far. Is there concern about gases engulfing the city?
Someone said in the chat comments that the cone was about 50 meters high.
Yes...it has these amazing bursts if you watch long enough....and te lava flow increases over the side in a big way
160 ft.....and growing
Snow storm there n0w hich will soon pass they usually do
I have no idea. There were still cars on the road in the video of night.
Now the view shows how far the lava flow has gone.pretty stunning seeing the cone rise from where it was a few days ago
If only man were genius enough to find a way to use all that heat to generate power. No radiation to worry about.
we don’t know if this will keep getting more intense or how many days it will go on. There weren’t any on-site witnesses of the eruption in 536 AD for us to compare it to today, but this still has a chance to be a major global cooling event due to ash as in 536.
So I reckon Floki isn’t doing very well, now.
it’s doubled since yesterday.....hard to imagine the photos and film then with people walking around it’s base.
Looks tiny, as volcanoes go.
FYI the Lava has begun it’s flow out of the valley and on it’s way through the next valley. The exit out of the valley is on the bottom left. Volcano is at it’s most active since eruption.
