Looks like a guava.
This past season I was growing lettuce in there, unaided, until December 24th. Of course, I covered things up at night, even inside the greenhouse. Layering helps.
I’ve been reading the Elliot Coleman books. He grows year round in unheated greenhouses in Maine which is pretty impressive!
The most reliable way (practiced since time began) is to buy the female flower dinner and drinks, or a mink coat. Maybe a Condo. Diamonds are a nice touch, too!

Lots of websites will show you the male and female flower parts of various fruits and vegetables for hand pollination. It varies by veggie. For example, the Zucchini (and I think winter squashes & pumpkins & cucumbers) puts out all male flowers first, THEN a week or so later the female flowers appear.
I'm feeling kinda bad for our little weasel friend, tho. I don't think it looked too good for him.

Don’t the female flowers also have little bumps under them that would become the fruit when fertilized?
In some cases, like squash, yes. But it varies from veggie to veggie.
I’ve grown peppers indoors, but have never hand pollenated them — aside from maybe accidentally brushing the plant when watering and they have still had peppers grow on them.
I assumed that they were like tomatoes and a simple flick to jiggle them a bit would work.
I’m thinking of adding a couple of mini crape myrtles to my balcony garden, here in zone 7a (Baltimore). Anyone have any experience with Purple Velvet c.m. or Berry Dazzle? They will be on sale around here in early to mid May.

My little great-niece got this book [Are You My Mother] from me at Christmas - it’s cute! She loves for you to read books to her - when you finish, she says “Again!”. I think my brother (her grandfather) read her the same book 4 times before she finally didn’t say ‘again’!
Yesterday .... first day of Spring .... I spent the day being a carpenter’s helper at our lake cabin. We had a huge pine tree come down on the tool shed. The tree got removed the Saturday before [took an 80’ bucket to get to the tree top] so yesterday was the day to fix the roof. It took us 4 hours, no breaks, & we lucked out & had on site what we needed for repairs (we brought shingles/roofing nails with us) with no trips to the hardware store. The wind wasn’t blowing too hard off the cold lake & the sun was out, all a ‘good thing’. There were some fishermen out & about - made me super chilly just looking at them running down the lake. There were big storms of the type that spawn tornadoes in the area Thursday evening, but the tree had been removed by then (big winds could have shifted it & caused more damage) & the place was unscathed - whew!
Today is ‘rest & recovery’ :-)

I’ve been wanting to try carmens after eating some from a farmers market. I used to grow Costa Rican red peppers for many years but could not find plants the last few years.

That’s why I recommend brushing toward the middle. The female part is in the very center, with the pollen-producing parts surrounding it.
Out daffodils popped last week...a few 2 weeks ago.
They are the bulbs I planted in 1995-6 and they keeeeeep coming back!
