Even “New York’s hometown airline” can’t escape the allure of sunny Florida.
JetBlue, currently headquartered in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens, is exploring its office options in the wake of the pandemic — a move that could see it ship more corporate jobs to the Sunshine State, The Post has learned.
In a March 11 memo to its LIC staffers, a copy of which was obtained by The Post, the budget airline said the combination of tougher economic times and more abundant office space has it reviewing its options ahead of the July 2023 expiration of its Long Island City lease.

Cuomo said wealth redistribution was their goal.
I’m sure Florida thanks them for all the wealth.
The other shoe to fall in this pandemic is commercial real estate blowing up.
My guess is that massive office buildings in downtown New York will be housing homeless/illegals so the owners can get paid buy the State or the Feds.
Oh. Right. Sure. The weather. That's the reason.
Goodness gracious. The lies The Fake News Mediums peddle.
What’s really really odd is that massive office buildings and apartments are continuing to be built. There are lots of them.
Would be nice if Frontier moved us to like Orlando.
LI City......Hipster Paradise.
Where Bezos wanted to put Amazon.
Shame the corrupt, local, city Dem politicians/community leaders and, none other than, AOC forced him to move his hipster HQ to Nashville. Now Tennessee and the Nashville metro area are paying the price.
Well, the scorching heat, relentless humidity and crazy thunderstorms and hurricane/tornado warnings are just a couple of months away down here, let’s see how the transplants enjoy the weather then.
What is with the whole “jabs” and “into arms” stuff these days? Makes me cringe.
Unless they have contracts, who knows? But I can’t expect anyone to see the downtown districts in major cities to come back anytime soon.
Exactly.
Can you say.....Can’t Escape the Allure of LOWER taxes and tyrannical rule??
Sorry...wrong thread. W/o my readers. Always disastrous. 😆
I assume you're talking about NYC. However, commercial, industrial and residential construction in Florida is booming.
A buddy of mine is pretty high up with one of the major banks in NYC. He and his group were moving to a plush office in Midtown before The ‘Rona hit, so they were all forced to work from home. No more plush office. Bank advised that working from home will be the norm except for some meetings a few times a month in the future.
Another friend was deep into thr movie business in NYC, on the union side. Told me that the only places you see activity is where all the Section 8 folks live. Other than that, it’s a ghost town.
Cuomo and DeBlasio should be in prison for what they’ve done and continue to do.
DeBlasios wife should be well into her prison sentence for all the money she stole.
OK, but they have to change their name to JetRed.
“Well, the scorching heat, relentless humidity and crazy thunderstorms and hurricane/tornado warnings are just a couple of months away down here, let’s see how the transplants enjoy the weather then.”
They’ve already been wintering there for decades. Now they’ll get a summer place up north and it’ll all be just fine.
I’m sad that I never got the chance to go to NYC before.
If that happens, the city will be unlivable.
The money has already been committed. Cheaper to build than to stop and litigate.
I would suggest that it would be an unsafe and unsound banking practice to approve a new commercial real estate loan at this point.
Of course, bad loans plus no new loans means that not as many bankers are needed (although some will have the skills and abilities to transition to managing "special assets" and ORE/REO/OREO what ever they are going to call it this time around. )
I went 50 or so years ago, and it was a cesspool then. Dirty and full of nasty folks.
White liberals will continue to move out. Immigrants like the Chinese will move in.
