America Has A Boy Crisis
Evie Magazine ^ | 3/6/2021 | Lisa Britton

Parents are more worried about their sons’ futures than their daughters’.

Boys have fallen far behind girls academically. Our school system increasingly favors female traits and doesn’t respect boys’ unique style of learning, which only leads to the expansion of the education gender gap. Research also now shows that boys are more at risk of struggling and falling behind because of remote learning during the COVID pandemic.

Shouldn’t we be adequately preparing ALL children for the future?

Scholarships and programs disproportionately favor girls. Research shows that 92% of sex-specific scholarships are reserved for women, when 58.6% of college students are already female, and females earn the majority of associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, AND doctorate degrees! We’re watching boys fall far behind, and rather than DO something to encourage boys, we tell them they’re “the problem” while tripling down on “girl power!”.

Try finding a STEM job if you’re white. I have a Ivy Master’s Degree in Applied Physics and BSEE.

Can’t get past the non-minority filters to even get an interview, let alone a job offer. My friend was shown the door for an Indian female replacement.

—————

True. Got a top MSc from a top Aeronautical University in the US, and s MSc from a HBCU ( they do all the Masters Level stuff for the tri-services/DoD in Europe). Worthless compared to some 3rd rate, unaccredited degree-mill in India

That’s why I have to work for a school in Singapore, and soon, a university in the UK.

Singaporeans really don’t like Indians (safe there)

Pecking order of the official Singaporean ethnicities:
Chinese
Ang Moh (European) - “me”
Malay
Indian

Especially for teaching jobs... and to a lesser extent, IT (once Indians so dominated IT in Singapore, that they are effectively banned now). Too many caught with fake credentials and experience. Now they just go to the US where nothing is checked.

Indians, er Asians, are merely tolerated in the UK (outside of London and Manchester)

No accountant has ever looked at a balance sheet and told his son proudly, “I did that.”

Yet without the accountants and the accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll folks, who would be keeping an eye on the company’s profitability, ensuring that the company survives and is able to keep people working, the payable folks who get the bills paid on time so that suppliers will continue to deliver the construction materials that the construction workers need to do their jobs, the receivable folks who ensure that work is billed and collected on time and oversee cash flow and the payroll folks who make sure that people are paid properly and on time, that their taxes are correctly withheld and reported on their W2’s.

Sure looking at a completed construction project and saying “I built that” may not be as sexy as looking at balance sheets and spreadsheets, etc., but without them, you’d be screwed.

And FWIW, I’ve been pretty damned proud of the accuracy of my balance sheets and income statements, etc. even if some of the trades people may not see the value in it.

Engineers are in huge demand in Milwaukee and other heavy manufacturing cities. There just are not enough **qualified** US applicants.

many local Milwaukee engineering jobs pay 150K to start. So reality and statistics seem to be at odds here. I worked with a guy with an electrical engineering degree who was just waiting for his real job to start - $120K year at 24 years old.

Sir, your arrogance is stunning.

Not really. More a reply to those here always pushing blue-collar work/ “the trades” as an end-all solution to the US problems.

It’s not for everyone. Don’t make it into a solution for everyone. It definitely has a place in society, an important place, but not the only place.

Like I said, not every boy or man wants to grow up and turn a wrench or do manual labor.

Yep. Then after men do not get as much education and consequently earn less, women complain that there aren’t enough good marriage prospect around. Well gee feminazis, let’s think about that one for a moment.....

You got what you wanted and now you’re miserable because of it (and yes, surveys show women in general are much less happy than they were in the past).

Its not just college level, but blue collar as well - free stuff every where makes people lazy and coming off several generations that never worked because of welfare makes it worse.

We live in a culture of free stuff where work is not valued and only serves as a temporary step to get more free stuff.

So that’s your justification to import H1B trash instead... nice. Not a single comment about all the H1B Indian trash imported in the US. Wonderful.

Manufacturing is not something most Americans want to do, especially when jobs were lost in waves starting with Mexico in the 1980s and on through to China.

But according to the census, 74% of all STEM graduates remain unemployed after graduation. How do you reconcile that statistic with your claims?

There’s been a push to get kids into college instead of trades as if everyone should be college material.

Not everyone is. Without the trades, we’re going to fail, too. Someone needs to do the work and I’d rather trust it to citizens than not.

And I do agree, we should not be depending on giving STEM jobs the to Indians and commies. End the visa programs.

I never said that you were any less men for not wanting to be in trades, so don’t read into it. However, someone good at trades has two things going.

One is you can make a good amount of money if you’re good at them because their is such high demand for them. The other is that those who hate us and are trying to destroy us, depend on those very trades they sneer at.

Who’s going to be the one fixing their plumbing, electrical, car, growing their food, transporting it, and when TSHTF, guess who’s going to have the skills to manage when everyone else is standing in line at the government hand outs, where they give out stale bread that runs out just before you get there?

Agreed.

Same, I develop video games and teach video game development. Mere entertainment, right? Definitely not as essential as the “trades”

Sorry, getting your hands dirty while working isn’t the sole criteria for whether a job or career is of any value.

White-collar work is just as valuable to society as blue-collar work.

Try finding a STEM job if you’re white. I have a Ivy Master’s Degree in Applied Physics and BSEE.

Can’t get past the non-minority filters to even get an interview, let alone a job offer.

The H1B program certainly should be run the way the Japanese do it - requiring companies to pay 10% over market to bring in foreign specialists. But I submit that people with your qualifications and experience will be far better served by rejecting corporate employment entirely, banding together, and forming your own company/consulting firm.

Too many Americans habitually beg large corporations for employment, failing to realize that these entities have become arms of government - and their hiring practices are now governed by the same rules the DMV uses. They way they are going, they would prefer not to hire employees at all, especially tech employees - but will happily fork over the cash to consulting firms to solve the problems they create for themselves.

If we white American men would stop genuflecting at the altar of corporate divinity, band together, build the economy in our own image, and consistently vote in our own interests the Left would be totally destroyed in five years. We don't need their crappy jobs at places like Disney or Bank of America where we have to hide our abilities and obey their diversity coordinators. We should come out of college with the mindset that any corporate job we take is just a short-term apprenticeship to get us ready to launch our own companies by age 30.

Elon Musk isn't my favorite guy, but I have to give him credit in this area - he makes things happen in defiance of corporatist norms. If he was still waiting for permission from FedGov or Boeing or trying to staff his companies with Federally mandated "diversity hires" before going forward, SpaceX would to this day be nothing but a computer simulation.

Make the online classes using Minecraft type interfaces or the other popular games they play. That’s a bit of sarcasm.

I’m around a few 8 year old boys and they are glued to iPads, Xbox and other electronic devices. Their parents are a mess but that’s another subject. One boy actually has a roll of fat around their middle from lack of exercise. I took a couple of the little boogers to church yesterday and one had fits because he didn’t have his iPad. They are socially inept little wimps that cry at the drop of a hat if they don’t get their way. They lack compassion for anyone around them and are so self-centered it’s shocking.
I had to try to teach one how to whisper recently, apparently all his parents do is yell at each other in between smoking pot, Xanax and trembling in the corner from “anxiety”.

Collectively, the parents and their children are needy and cannot fend for themselves. Can’t keep jobs, need help with house payments and buying cars. I can’t relate. The parents of these kids are around 30 years old and are on my spouses side.

I’d say all is lost by my kid is in their early 20’s, went thought college with honors including some honors and awards created for them and is a research now in a PhD program where they have been asked to teach in that same program. They have no college debt and have already bought a house without my help.

The good thing is that none of these younger people are leftists.

My concern about all these children who are not physically in school is that some people f them are being significantly damaged.

Sorry, your post made it sound like every tradesman is useless.

My career has been white collar, sales/marketing type stuff. I’m sort of a hybrid right now and work with a lot of builders.

Many of them are very proud of their work and it’s more mentally complex than you might think. In many ways I wish I would have gone into the trades rather than the office setting.

As you may have read, one of my kids is in a STEM career as an astronautical engineer. He’s white and had no trouble getting a job. Two interviews with different divisions of the same company, one offer within a week.

Guess it depends on which level of STEM stuff you go into. I do know a bunch of computer guys who are constantly struggling.

I don’t know any builders, plumbers, contractors, electricians, roofers, masons and the like who are struggling.

You never did, but it’s heavily implied that those not willing to get their hand dirty to earn a living are somehow less a man than someone who chose the white-collar, educated route.

The various engineering disciplines are hard to quantify. I’m a Software Engineer by trade (more of a Gameplay Engineer now). Took the same hard-assed Physics-Math-Engineering college program as many engineers, I just specialized in software rather than Electrical, Mechanical or Civil.

I include myself in that. I’m an expert in the exciting world of caulks and sealants, which I usually describe as a sad commentary on my life.

We all play a part. I was just miffed at the argument that there’s no honor is turning a wrench.

Total BS. As of Mar 1, 2021, the average annual pay for an Electrical Engineer in the United States is $87,216 a year.

2% of jobs in the highest percentile.
