The last prophet was John the Baptist. God is finished speaking. Everything he had to say is in the bible.

“The last prophet was John the Baptist. God is finished speaking. Everything he had to say is in the bible.”

Acts 19

“When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.”

Humm. Acts of the Apostles comes after the death of St. John as I recollect. (

Don’t blame me....its in the Bible!)

” God is finished speaking”

++++++++++++++++++++

Dangerous to presume anything about God. Why can’t there be prophets? Or have we stopped listening??

Acts 1:8

Is the Holy Spirit quiet, too??

Does God not speak through music? Through wind? Through the skies? In the clouds? Through the miraculous cries of newborns? Through the elderly taking their last breaths, looking up and saying.. “I see Jesus!”

Angels roam the earth and demons FEAR GOD. A living God. THE I AM. Not the I WAS.

Stuff it troll.

St. Paul himself - who outranks any human source you rely on - wrote in the New Testament about prophets and the purpose of prophecy as a gift of the Holy Spirit.

And as St. Paul wrote this to the Church in Corinth, but none of the prophecies given by the prophets in that Church, are listed in Scripture, this proves:

1) Prophecy is genuine.

2) There exists prophecy which is not listed in Scripture.

Prophecy is generally not about dogma & doctrine, anyway. Read Acts 11.

,,.....................

This has not happened yet.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is [d]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. 1 Cor. 13

So until that time there shall be healing, and prophecy, real and fake. God does not give a gift then take it away. They will be available until they are no longer needed, and that will be when it is all over.

The last prophet was John the Baptist. God is finished speaking. Everything he had to say is in the Bible...

So, using that criteria, who were the last apostles, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers? EPHESIANS 4:11

11 And He (CHRIST) gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.

Prophecy is alive into day's church. However, their utterances must align to Scripture. We are to discern what is spoken.

I think God expects us to test the words of those saying they are prophets, but there is scriptural basis for the current existence of prophets. If their words contradict scripture then they are not true prophets, (or if their words appeal to or stir up any of the things mentioned in Gal. 8: 19-21.)

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
