The “Frasier” revival has officially been ordered at Paramount Plus.
Original series star Kelsey Grammer will return in the title role in addition to executive producing. Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli will serve as writers and executive producers, with Grammnet Productions’ Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon also executive producing. The series will be produced by CBS Studios in association with Grammnet Productions, exclusively for Paramount+. The announcement was made as part of ViacomCBS’ investor day presentation on Wednesday.
“Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world,” said Grammer. “I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr. Frasier Crane.”
Grammer played the role of Dr. Frasier Crane in three different television series – “Cheers,” “Wings” and “Frasier” – tying the record for longest-running television character. He has won six Emmys, three Golden Globes, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Tony Award during his career. In total, he has received 18 Emmy nominations, eight Golden Globe nominations, 16 Screen Actors Guild nominations and two Tony nominations. He is also currently set to star in a multi-cam comedy at ABC opposite Alec Baldwin.
He is repped by UTA and Vault Entertainment.
“’Frasier’ is one of the most acclaimed comedies in modern television history and truly defines premium storytelling,” said David Stapf, president of CBS Studios. “There has long been a call from fans for its return, and that call is now answered thanks to the amazing Kelsey Grammer reprising his iconic role of Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan from Joe, Chris and Kelsey. We can’t wait to reveal its next chapter on Paramount +.”
Grammer has been trying to get the revived show off the ground for some time. “Frasier” remains one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, having won 37 Emmy Awards over the course of its 11 seasons and 264 episodes on NBC. The series also starred David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, and Peri Gilpin, none of whom are currently attached to the revival.
Thank you for clearing that up!!
British police series are pretty much the ONLY thing I order through Netflix. Wish Britbox rented DVDs. We only have Satellite internet, so streaming is not an option out here in the boonies.
Any series based upon Ann Cleeves’ novels are always a good bet. ;)
So, uh, is Lilith, played by Bebe Neuwirth, gonna drop in to say hi?
That’s all I care about.
‘Midsomer Murders.’
Thumbs up for that series. I think it ran for 20 seasons? Unheard of!
CPB...stop spreading nasty rumors!!!
Did you watch “ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL”??? FABULOUS!!
Never too late!! WINGS was awesomely funny also! MAYBE funnier!
Cam Winston. Frasier’s upstairs neighbor.
I hope not. I was referencing “Cam Winston.” :-)
My favorite episode was when the new employee at the radio station was interested in an unknowing Frasier who tried to set him up with Daphne.
One of the funniest shows ever written.
Agree, 100%
We still enjoy the reruns.
Good, gosh....can these idiots, in Hollyweird NOT come up with ANYTHING new, intelligent and entertaining?
Do they have to constantly grift off of their old successes??
I see Kelsey Grammer commericals for refinancing Gramma’s house and for Grandma to get some supplemental Medicare coverage.
Will this be Frazier Does Assisted Living?
I thought the original Murphy Brown was a disaster.
I do miss John Nettles though!

Check out the name of the producer or that episode.
You’re correct. How did I miss that! Maybe I just liked that Frisco storyline better than Linney the girlfriend.
I’ve looked up 2, plus Wikipedia; no mention of any homosexuality or gay partner.
Jane Leeves also played Jerry’s virgin girlfriend on an episode of “Seinfeld.”
At the end of the episode, the Leeves character was in bed with JFK Jr., but he was not actually on the episode, just mentioned.
