I favor a rolling list of hosts, including the top subs like Steyn, Herman, James Golden (Snerdley), etc, and also Don Sr, Don Jr, Eric and Lara, Lou Dobbs, Bongino, General Flynn, Steve Miller, Candace Owens, Kayleigh McEnany, Sarah Sanders, Burgess Owens, Mike Huckabee, Judge Jeanine Piro, Diamond and Silk.

Each host (or duo act like D&S) gets $76,000 per episode (around $20million speakers’ budget, half of what Rush made) and the rest of the contracted budget of $45M would go for increased scheduling, production, publishing and marketing staff, to make sure it keeps going.

Rush developed the audience; the trick now is to hold onto it with excellent conservative content. I doubt that the one-man format could follow him—too much pressure on one man, since Rush was inimitably unique; a different sole personality would risk of losing the audience. A variety of hosts is the best option.

There are very few entertainers whose passing defines the end of an "era." Johnny Carson was one, perhaps Lucille Ball was another, maybe even Robert Osborne (who dominated at TCM since its inception).

In the spirit of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, this show could continue on as The Rush Limbaugh Program Starring... the name of the host for the show.

And now, heeeeeerrrreee's Mark Steyn!

You definitely listed some “rock stars”. Might be a great idea!

Perhaps there needs to be a bit of “sifting” going on until the “right” hosts emerges from the pack.

I like your idea as long as those hosts don’t run for office.

I don’t see that holding nearly Rush’s audience and thus budget (and my Steyn fantasy wouldn’t either), but that’s definitely another type of variety show!

The problem I have with your suggestion is not with the credibility of the names you listed. Each is fine in their own domain. Rush was a true broadcast professional and instinctively knew how to grab and keep an audience. He took the intricate details and back stories of the political scene and boiled them down and presented the truth with great clarity. He made it look easy but it is not. That is why he sits at the top of Mount Olympus of American orators.

I have listened to Mark Levin present conservatism on his show for quite some time now. He is brilliant and smokes out the Left from his own perspective on a par with Rush, in my opinion. I think the conservative cause could and would rally behind him in a manner similar to Rush. Just my opinion.

That would be the best tactic, I think.

I agree with that and after thinking about it said the same basic thing to my wife last night.
