I stopped all news the night of election. I just happened to be out and had a urge to turn on rush. I heard his voice for a few minutes. I arrived home. This was sometime around 12:30 to 1. I got into my home. Opened my phone and was stunned. Dear God. No.
Interesting, and thank you.
Adding to the growing depression with lockdowns, unemployment, financial ruin....etc...and the world outlook future is bleak
He spent years explaining how the left operates, but what he did not fully understand is called the emotional plague..
Today’s show was good with so many old clips...I loved hearing his voice - as I said earlier on another thread, I wish we could hear it every day.
I’m loving it....listened today.....About getting inducted into the radio hall of fame and Sally Jessie Raphael opposed it and Paul Harvey was livid....Brought a smile to my face......
I too am feeling selfish for missing Rush.
It adds to the heartache.
sorry that was not directed at you, just an observation.
While I mourn his passing, I have never once listened to his show. I’ve heard snippets here and there, but I never listen to AM radio, ever.
There will be a Rush sized hole every weekday at 11am CST for the rest of my life.
The world is not the same. Until we hear from you again Rush in heavens version of EIB.
Every weekday morning at 9AM...and today was no exception I expect ‘MahaRushie’ to help make sense of the news.
And there I was at 9AM looking at the radio.
“You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.”
God bless and Godspeed Rush.
It’ll be nice to meet up with Rush in Heaven, but I’ll be listening to the Big Voice of the Light up there, not his.
I have felt utter despair for 2 days now, I had no idea I would be this broken-hearted over Rush passing!! I was quite surprised at how depressed I am, it was like losing someone in my immediate family I knew it was coming YET I simply can’t stop thinking that I will never hear him on the airwaves again I am SO SAD!! It is going to be rough not having Rush through election cycles, something BIG would happen and I would say I can’t wait to hear what Rush has to say about this!! GEEZE just wish I could shake this sadness NEVER DREAMED I would be affected this way!!
The Beatles clearly were the first mega group, had a deep influence (Ozzy got into music because of the Beatles) and sold more albums in the US (183MM units as of today) than any other band. Their 12 album releases from 1962-1970 remain staples.
Hendrix released four albums from 1966 until he died in 1970. Those albums have sold maybe 10MM copies, and Hendrix's total catalog has maybe sold 20MM copies. But the man has influenced the guitar players of the planet more than anyone else. His much narrower musical influence is arguably still white-hot.
Rush is the Beatles. Andrew is Hendrix.
And perhaps most importantly, we all thought Music and the guitar was OVER when the Beatles broke up and Jimi died...then we got The Who, Zeppelin, the Police, Rush (the band), and Eddie Van Halen, Steve Howe, and Steve Vai.
Of course, if people want to mourn, let them. Rush did a LOT of good. But we all thought we'd never see a great one like Reagan right before some guy took an escalator ride in 2015...
I had the exact same thought today. Huge missing pieces. It's very hard.
I have wondered also about the website....so much to think about!!
I don’t think I will want to keep listening to the old stuff, but today was great. I had forgotten about the SJR rudeness, Paul Harvey, etc. :)
I am so sorry! I didn’t mean at all to come across as I think I did! I do agree with what you said.
