I recently came across this clip from the Clinton Years of Rush calling out said President's crocodile tears during the Ron Brown memorial service which did bring a much needed smile to my face.
Now that we're looking back on his life, I thought would be a good time to ask people here for their favourite Rush moments that hold dear to them. Whether he made you laugh or stoked passion in you
When he first came on the radio here in the NYNJ area, he said he would not be having guests or interviews with people. I remember distinctly looking at the radio and saying “ How long are you going to last buddy?”. Little did I know the real Rush then. He didnt need anyone! Just being himself had an impact on us all. What a unique guy he was.
Im in tears again.
No one did “Bill Clinton” better than Rush, even Bill Clinton himself.
Oh and also the show the day when When the Republicans took over Congress with Newt and the contract with America. He was so fired up!
And to this day it has stuck!
Anyone remember when restaurants throughout the country had “Rush Rooms” during lunch?
I remember one day in the late 90s - in the early days of the commercial Internet - I was listening to him at lunchtime while driving down the road, and he was expressing skepticism about the existence of some mysterious “Trilateral Commission”. As I was driving I was yelling at my radio ... “They have a web page!”
Yes, Teddy Kennedy”The Wanderer” Clinton and Gore “Werewolves in Congress” 2 of my favorites
The politically correct football picks!
Being on the Goldwater Range 100mi or so SE of Phoenix.
I am on STAC servicing USAF scoring towers in the middle of nowhere, 4 wheel drive required.
My company was so cheap our Dodge Rams had AM radios only.
If you wanted your own music, a walkman and cassette is your option.
I am looking around for something to listen and I think KFI comes in from PHX. I am close to Ajo,Az but many miles west on dirt AF roads.
KFI comes in and it is this guy going on about political events and he is giving his opinion on it.
It takes a few minutes to understand this is different from what I was expecting to find.
This guy was was talking about the political environment we live in. Reagan was gone and the left was looking to take HWB out.
The man was one Rush H. Limbaugh. circa 1989
Hooked ever since.
Thanks Rush..
KFI is based in Los Angeles. KFYI in Phoenix was Rush’s station.
1. His consoling the crying woman the day after Clinton was elected in 1992. He asked her, “Who has more control over your daily life? You or Bill Clinton?” It was majestic.
2. Dan’s Bake Sale. We were in the same position as now, fighting for our lives against the Democrats.
3. He taught us all how to die with grace.
Goodbye Rush, and many thanks.
Thanks for mentioning the updates; those were always great. I think it was the hilarious environmental updatse where the intro had Slim Whitman singing Una Paloma Blanca while you hear explosions and gunfire and bombs whistling through the air. So over the top that I can still hear it in my head.
The media would always take Rush’s words and twist them ( media matters- not that it does however :-)
Knowing this, Rush would always bait the hook and then lower the hammer when they took the bait. He played the media like a violin.
KOOKS. Keep Our Kids Safe.
Larry King and Rush- about 100 years of broadcast experience erased in less than 2 weeks.
A favorite Rush memory of mine is him telling the story of Senator Howell Heflin’s reaction to pictures of Senator Ted Kennedy cavorting with a young woman on a boat in the south of France. Rush’s vocal impression of Heflin was perfect: ‘Well, I do declare! Why, it do look to me like Senator Kennedy done changed his position on offshore drilling.’
The clip of audio of Rush when he saw Hillary with the severe hairdo - reminded me of Bride of Frankenstein (though many people here said it was fine hairdo).
Drove like hell to get to Ft Collin’s from Omaha Friday night before the bakesale. A real mountain-top experience.
Many thousands of people from all over the world and not a scrap of litter left after the festivities. The burnt out hippies of Ft Collins had no idea what had hit them. You could’ve dropped your wallet stuffed with cash on the street and it would have been in your mail the next week with all the $ still there. After so many years of hearing nothing but leftist garbage, it was like water to a thirsting soul lost in the desert to hear Rush and to see the miraculous Bake sale turnout.
I first heard Rush during the first week of his national show. Ironically, I had picked up a burger at a Columbia SC hamburger chain called Rush’s. They have been around since the 50’s if my memory serves correctly.
I was hooked and listened faithfully. I taped his show on cassette tapes and listened in the car on my commutes to/from work.
Many years later I heard Rush put down a caller. I remember thinking he purposely ignored what the caller meant and pretended to take the man literally. I thought of stopping listening, but thought, “I’ve listened to this man for decades and he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
The next day Rush disclosed he had gone completely deaf and was conducting the show via transcripts. Of course he couldn’t recognize that caller’s tone. He was reading from a display.
I have cried all afternoon and night. This is devastating.

I had forgotten that. Yes, it was a hoot.
