Zinc and Vitamin C fell short in a clinical trial after researchers found they made no significant difference in easing the duration of coronavirus symptoms.
Findings from the Cleveland Clinic were published in JAMA Network on Friday, drawing on results from April 27 to Oct. 14, when 214 coronavirus patients in Ohio and Florida outpatient care sites were given either 50 milligrams of high-dose zinc to be taken at night, 8,000 milligrams of Vitamin C to be taken several times throughout the day with meals, a combination of the two or standard care over a 10-day period.
These patients, averaging about 45 years old, were at home and answered virtual surveys about their symptoms, any adverse effects, hospitalizations and other medications. Any patient that required hospitalization was considered a treatment failure, researchers said. Data shows most of the patients were experiencing mild symptoms, with very few suffering severe cases.

Unfortunately after 10 days she was probably way past peak illness so vitamins and other palliatives would probably not help much.
I do 6 fruit shakes for 2 glasses : pineapple, apples, oranges, bananas, cantaloupe and grapes EVERY DAY except Saturday. That’s reserved for beer. Been tested every 2 weeks at the studios I work for and never positive. I dont even wear a mask in public. I add 2 1000 mg VIT D and calcium zinc tablets. In my line of work they find 2-3 cases every week, and they are paid to stay home 2 weeks. ALL come back in less time without even taking that stupid vaccine, but I understand anyone who does. It’s not for me.
liposomal vitamin C is the ultimate Vitamin C. Because it acts to keep C at a high level in your blood all day as you take divided doses. Linus Pauling lived to 91 and was famous for taking 6-10 grams of C per day. He took C in the form of sodium ascorbate. I take this too and also C in the form of magnesium ascorbate. Both of these are buffered C, meaning not acidic.
If you take 6 grams sodium ascorbate daily in 4-8 divided doses you can replicate what liposmal Vitamin C does. Meaning you keep your Vit C blood levels on a constant high level.
The kind of C you take in a 500-1000mg tablet is acidic. It would burn your stomach and strip enamel off your teeth if you took 6-10 grams of this per day.
I also take 3 heaping teaspoons of OptiMSM daily. Made by Jarrow and found at Amazon. Takes care of arthritic aches and pains and more. My problem knee is lots beter.

Yup. That synergy thing.
Rather convenient, if you ask me. /s
Sure, NY Post.
Millions of every day ‘test subjects’ prove otherwise.
Good going. I want nothing to do with pharma.
I’ve seen so many studies where they intentionally sabotage the result. Let’s say potatoes contain a factor that will inhibit the effectiveness of the thing being tested. And golly gee, guess what each Guinea pig gets served each day of the trial? POTATOES.
I’ve never seen any support for using large doses of Vitamin C for COVID in the literature so I’m not sure why they even did this part of the study.
If they did not understand that Zinc is a positive charged ion and does not pass through cell membranes easily by itself then they don’t know basic biochemistry. The use of ionophores like quercetin or HCQ is needed to bring the intercellular concentrations of Zinc high enough to boost the immune system. Also 50mg of Zinc is well below the 250mg dose used successfully by Dr. Zelenko and others.
I don’t think these researches knew what they were doing.
Dr Linus Pauling respectfully disagrees.
90% better chance they knew exactly what they doing. Intentional sabotage.
Dummy studies! The zinc is supposed to be accompanied by vitamin D.
The combination is quercetin and zinc, or hydroxy and zinc.
They keep testing these separately, and then telling us they arenโt effective.
Its the combination
I agree with your position on that in certain instances — poorer absorption, lower bioavailability ==> just take a bigger dose of the cheap one. But I have run into instances where that didn’t work, because a sufficient dose of the poorly absorbed product led to annoying side effects in the digestive system.
Of course zinc didn’t do anything without an ionophore present.
The Dr. on Ingraham’s show tonight reported that peeps with high vitamin D rarely catch it, or don’t even notice if they do. ...more mild than a cold.
A couple of Spanish studies have shown a strong effect from calcifidiol given to hospitalized patients, and were published last week.
One summary is here:

Enough for me. Zero risk, and maybe helps. Plus it’s dirt cheap. Not hard to figure this one out.
A study specifically designed to fail. This is the formula for the Zinc Tablets sold by Basic Vitamins and they encourage multiple doses per day not a single 50mg Zinc.. this is so lame.
But, this formula barely works because the cells naturally reject zinc preventing it from doing much good.. though it still kind of works if you catch a cold or the flu and start taking it right at the first symptom.
But add HCQ or Quercetin and you have another deal entirely. It lets the zinc into the cells where it disrupts the RNA replication of the virus.
The downside, Zinc is a poison. YOU CAN’T TAKE IT CONTINUOUSLY.. think RNA replication disruption.. not a good thing.. in the long term. Don’t follow Dennis Prager’s foolish use of Zinc.
You have to get back off the Zinc as soon as you can. If you are on it for a long period, you must supplement with copper as the Zinc will cause a deficiency in Copper.
The effective range in my experience for defeating Covid using Zinc and Quercetin is 200 to 250mg zinc per day (divide into four doses to avoid tummy problems) + 800 to 1000mg Quercetin (mine comes in 400mg capsules) divided into two doses daily. Any more zinc and you will puke, any less and the Covid gets a foothold. When you start feeling better for about a week, then back down the Zinc slowly and see if the taste thing comes back, or any other flu-like symptoms.. and increase if they occur or continue backing off until you are off of Zinc in perhaps another week or two.
Pulverize the capsule, dissolve in water. That should solve the problem. Also, it may be additives such as magnesium acetate, added for a number or reasons. Find one without that.
