The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has finally recognized that the masks they’ve had everyone wearing for the better part of a year are largely ineffective because aerosols easily go around the top and sides.
Their latest recommendation is “placing a sleeve made of sheer nylon hosiery material around the neck and pulling it up over either a cloth or medical procedure mask,” or using knots and tucking to fit a mask closely to the face.
They came up with these techniques in experiments with mannequins in a lab and have not tested them on actual humans. They have no empirical data, and the study even warns:
The findings of these simulations should neither be generalized to the effectiveness of all medical procedure masks or cloths masks nor interpreted as being representative of the effectiveness of these masks when worn in real-world settings.

Well, let’s really do something about it.
CDC (and by extension, all tyrants) are trying to see how far they can push people. Each day, the pronouncements from on high become dumber and dumber.
Yet, it is we who go along with this insanity. ENOUGH.
I don’t even want to go out in public. Seeing Americans as fearful, compliant sheep makes me angry.

I’m with you there. While there are many who resist, most just go along and wait for the right moment. I tried to tell them the right moment sailed past.
This is turning into the Monty Python skit where the two pilots see how much they can upset the passengers by saying crazy things on the PA.
They are just sitting around the table drinking and seeing how far they can push it now.
They lie about the death rates of covid and yet expect us to believe what they say about masks. Masks are worthless in stopping viruses.
Why do I need a lying CDC to tell me that? They have no credibility.

Maybe it's time to invest in scuba gear companies. Pretty sure in the limit we're going to be told to bring our own air with us. <- that comment is actually semi-serious.
I hope we reach peak absurdity soon although I fear it’s a long way off.
