CHAPEL HILL – An experimental drug created at a subsidiary of Emory University has shown potential to both prevent and treat COVID-19, according to researchers at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The drug, known as EIDD-2801, is being developed by Miami-based Ridgeback Biotherapeutics. Ridgeback is partnered with drug giant Merck in the development process. The drug was invented at Drug Innovations at Emory, a not-for-profit biotechnology company wholly owned by Emory University, according to Ridgeback.

If it’s just HCQ, it would be a cinch to produce a generic copy. They’d need a new patent to protect the new drug price.

So why do we continue to pretend that there are no treatments for CV19?

If the news gets out that treatments are available the mask mandates and lockdowns would stop. Can't have that now can we. It's all about CONTROL.

Wouldn’t surprise me if this is quinine in some other form.

If there is no ‘treatement’ available then vaccines can be given emergency deployment.

In order to prevent Covid-19, the drug would either have to be taken continuously, or taken as soon as someone suspects they have been exposed to Covid-19.

The idea of continuously taking a drug to prevent Covid-19 is not appealing. Who knows what kind of long-term side effects it could have? No, thanks.

The idea of taking it as a prophylaxis upon suspected exposure to Covid-19 is okay, but you would have to know you were exposed. I don’t think that’s always possible.

For prevention, the vaccine is going to be the best option. You get a couple of shots that train your immune system to recognize and kill the actual virus, and you’re set for a while. The two-shot series is 95-96% effective.

Absolutely false. Again. The implication is that somehow God made our immune systems defective.

The simple daily solution to viral infection is to maintain proper nutrient levels, especially vitamin D and zinc. Lots of us take those daily. The benefits to vitamin D (from sun or supplement) extend far beyond cv19 to cancer and other diseases.

Look, we know that you conventional MDs like to feel that you have power over life and death. Giving someone an injection, or a prescription to paper over a chronic condition does not take much intelligence. Performing an actual diagnosis, treating root causes by identifying root causes (which conventional medicine almost never does; it explains the 200,000 or so deaths per year due to medical errors) requires intelligence, humility, discernment and of course training.

There is no such implication. Vaccines train the immune system by exposing it to an inactive pathogen or part of a pathogen. The immune system responds exactly the same way to the non-infectious pathogen as it would to a virulent live pathogen. The difference is that you won't get the infectious disease from a vaccine, but a real pathogen can make you very ill and is potentially fatal.

The simple daily solution to viral infection is to maintain proper nutrient levels, especially vitamin D and zinc.

Let me know how that works out for you if you get bitten by a rabid dog. I'm pretty sure that no amount of vitamin D and zinc is going to stop that virus from getting into your brain. But, you know, it's your choice not to receive the vaccine or antiserum if you get bit.

Look, we know that you conventional MDs like to feel that you have power over life and death.

I'm not an MD, and the only "power" I have over life and death is that I have had to make decisions to euthanize lab animals. I'm a PhD scientist. My life work has been to understand the molecular basis of disease processes in an effort to develop better therapies. But, nice try.

#2 above

Antiserum is not a vaccine. I also would have no problem taking a TIG shot after stepping on a rusty nail.

Also rabies is not Covid-19. Is there a rabies vaccine in the CDC schedule?

So...nice try.

Oh, how nice, to deflect away from the point by claiming "dishonest debate tactics."

You claim that you will never take vaccines. You've just told me (indirectly) that you *will* take vaccines if you are bitten by a rabid dog (or bat, which is more likely).

According to the CDC, if you are bit by a rabid animal, "Postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) consists of a dose of human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) and rabies vaccine given on the day of the rabies exposure, and then a dose of vaccine given again on days 3, 7, and 14." The rabies vaccine is, of course, a vaccine. "Immune globulin" is a fancy way of saying "antibodies", which are produced by B-cells that were induced by vaccination. I had the rabies vaccine before I traveled to a country where rabies is a problem.

You've outed yourself as an anti-vaxxer, which tells me a lot about you. You don't care how many people die from infectious diseases, but you will act to save yourself when your life is on the line.

“You’ve outed yourself as an anti-vaxxer”

Lol! I’ve never hidden that I don’t like vaccines. Great catch on your part. But I would not ban people from taking them.

You people on the other hand, not only do not accept any other health worldview, but want your idea of medicine to be made mandatory (govt) or defacto mandatory (private business).

So yeah, as far as I am concerned, mandatory pro-vaxxers are just as much the domestic enemy as people who believe in gun control, central planning, govt-run health care, monopoly medicine, oppose homeschooling etc.

And by the way, getting treated after the fact (after stepping on a rusty nail, or after being bitten by a rabid vaxxer?), when there is an immediate heightened risk of illness is not the same as, for example, giving a Hep B shot to a newborn whose Mom is not a prostitute nor an intravenous drug user.

And then the fact remains that the people at most risk of suffering from exposure to viruses typically have other unresolved underlying conditions.

So I guess you profit off vaccine development? Thanks for outing yourself.

As with every anti-vaxxer, you express desire to wait until a condition occurs and treat it after the fact, instead of preventing it. You would prefer a child to get meningitis (with a high chance of dying or getting severe brain damage) than to vaccinate it against meningococcal disease. Vaccines prevent serious illnesses before they occur.

When I said that you had outed yourself as an anti-vaxxer, I was not saying that I had just learned that you are an anti-vaxxer. What I was saying was that you had revealed that you have the selfish, self-serving anti-science attitudes of every anti-vaxxer. You would never bother taking your child to the doctor for routine preventive care, but you'll count on everyone else taking *their* child so your child won't get sick. And I can point out the deadliness of vaccine preventable diseases all day long, but you don't care one iota about the children who die or are permanently disabled from those diseases. No, you'll still want to spout your anti-vax nonsense.

And invoking God in your anti-vaxxery? Seriously? You claimed that vaccines somehow show lack of faith in our God-given immune systems and then showed your own lack of faith by saying that you take vitamin D and zinc to "strengthen" your immune system! What, you don't have faith in your immune system to handle any challenge? And your answer to my rabies question, that you would, indeed, take the prophylaxis if you get bitten by a rabid animal also shows that you do NOT have complete faith in our natural immune system to handle all challenges.

I have to remind myself, in any discussion with an anti-vaxxer, that my main audience is not the anti-vaxxer who is impervious to any reason or evidence. It is the person who genuinely does not know, and whom I can help to educate to recognize unscientific anti-vaxxery.

No I would prefer that the God-given immune system of the child be optimized using nutrition, and not damaged by vaccination.

“When I said that you had outed yourself as an anti-vaxxer, I was not saying that I had just learned that you are an anti-vaxxer. What I was saying was that you had revealed that you have the selfish, self-serving anti-science attitudes of every anti-vaxxer.”

On the contrary, I am a parent and I am highly intentional in my design of my child’s nutrition and supplementation, because nutrition and supplementation is God’s plan for health and wellness. I don’t think God wants me to inject mercury, aluminum, aborted fetal tissue, squalene or formaldehyde into the bloodstream of my child.

“And invoking God in your anti-vaxxery? Seriously? Laughable. I answered above. Nutrition and supplementation are not comparable to injection with the ingredient list of a vaccine.

“I have to remind myself, in any discussion with an anti-vaxxer, that my main audience is not the anti-vaxxer who is impervious to any reason or evidence. It is the person who genuinely does not know, and whom I can help to educate to recognize unscientific anti-vaxxery.”

Yes, educate before you vaccinate. Thank you. Read books both pro- and con-. Don’t ask a pro-vaxxer for the list; do your own reading and research. Don’t be bullied or guilted or made to fear making an independent choice (pro-vaxxers are experts at this). For sure, read Dr. Stephanie Cave’s book. Be sure to ask the pediatrician about the VAERS database, vaccine inserts and the like. Read this book:
