Resolution of Censure Against Senator Ben Sasse
Myself | January 28, 2021 | JME_FAN

Posted on 01/27/2021 11:08:56 PM PST by JME_FAN

RESOLUTION OF CENSURE AGAINST SENATOR BENJAMIN ERIC SASSE

Whereas, on 26 January 2021, 55 U.S. Senators voted to reject a Point of Order, raised by Senator Rand Paul – that impeachment of a private citizen is unconstitutional; and that among those senators objecting were five Republicans, including: Senator Susan Collins (ME), Senator Lisa Murkowski (AK), Senator Mitt Romney (UT), Senator Ben Sasse (NE), and Senator Pat Toomey (PA);

Whereas, on 8 January 2021, as reported by Grant Schulte, of the Associated Press (‘Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse says Trump incited Capitol Riot’) – in response to President Donald J. Trump’s speech, given 6 January 2021 at the ‘Save America’ rally, at Ellipse Park in Washington, D.C – Senator Sasse publicly declared that the president incited a riot at the U.S. Capitol building, accusing him of “pouring gasoline on these fires of division,” and further asserted that the president deserves some blame;

Whereas, on 8 January 2021, as reported by Lexi Lonas, of The Hill (‘Sasse says Trump was “delighted” and “excited” by reports of Capitol riot’), during an on-air radio interview with Hugh Hewitt, Senator Sasse stated: “As this was unfolding on television, Donald Trump was walking around the White House confused about why other people on his team weren’t as excited as he was, as you had rioters pushing against Capitol Police trying to get into the building,” Sasse further asserted of President Trump “He was delighted” [about the riot.] Senator Sasse continued: “I’m sure you’ve also had conversations with other senior White House officials, as I have” – but the senator did not name which officials said Trump was “delighted;”

Whereas, on 8 January 2021, as reported by Lexi Lonas, of The Hill (‘Sasse says Trump was “delighted” and “excited” by reports of Capitol riot’), during the interview with Hugh Hewitt, Senator Sasse attacked the integrity of Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), the first senator to announce he would object to the Electoral College results. Senator Sasse called it “a really dumbass stunt, based on lies that the election was fraudulent;”

Whereas, on 8 January 2021, in an interview with CBS This Morning, Senator Sasse stated: “The American people have been lied to, chiefly by Donald Trump, and lies have consequences, and those consequences are now found in five dead Americans, and a Capital building that's in shambles. Legislators should not be aiding and abetting those kinds of lies. The president has disregarded his oath of office … The House, if they come together and have a process, I will definitely consider whatever articles they might move; because, as I've told you, I believe the president has disregarded his oath of office. He swore an oath to the American people to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. He acted against that. What he did was wicked;”

Whereas, on 15 October 2020, in a Washington Post story – ‘GOP Sen. Sasse says Trump mistreats women, flirts with white supremacy and secretly mocks evangelicals’ – WP reporter Colby Itkowitz wrote the following: Sen. Ben Sasse eviscerated President Trump during a phone call with constituents, in which the Nebraska Republican accused the president of cozying up to dictators, mistreating women, flirting with white supremacists and irresponsibly handling the corona virus pandemic.

Sasse’s comments were disclosed by the Washington Examiner, which obtained an audio recording of the call, a campaign telephone townhall with Nebraska voters. Sasse’s spokesman verified that the reporting was accurate, but declined to answer more specific questions such as when the call happened. … In the call, Sasse unleashed a torrent of criticisms at Trump:

“The way he kisses dictators’ butts. I mean, the way he ignores the Uighurs, our literal concentration camps in Xinjiang. Right now, he hasn’t lifted a finger on behalf of the Hong-Kongers. The United States now regularly sells out our allies under his leadership, the way he treats women, spends like a drunken sailor. The ways I criticize President Obama for that kind of spending; I’ve criticized President Trump for as well. He mocks evangelicals behind closed doors. His family has treated the presidency like a business opportunity. He’s flirted with white supremacists.”

The senator also criticized the president’s handling of the corona virus pandemic on the call… Sasse said Trump mishandled it from the beginning. “But the reality is that he careened from curb to curb. First, he ignored covid. And then he went into full economic shutdown mode. He was the one who said 10 to 14 days of shutdown would fix this. And that was always wrong. I mean, and so I don’t think the way he’s led through covid has been reasonable or responsible, or right;”

Whereas, Senator Ben Sasse has persistently engaged in public acts of ridicule and calumny against President Donald J. Trump, through both the spoken and written word, questioning the president’s agenda, decisions, motives, and competency;

Whereas Senator Ben Sasse has publically shown contempt for Donald J. Trump, and likewise he has made disparaging remarks towards the Trump family;

Whereas Senator Ben Sasse has repeatedly, through imprudent public remarks, demonstrated a general disrespect for the Office of the President, and likewise for the reputation of his fellow Republican senators, mocking their integrity;

Whereas, Senator Ben Sasse shows indifference to the factual evidence of illicit acts, as were committed during the 3 November 2020 election, including: affidavits from individuals who witnessed intimidation, irregularities and fraud in the submission and counting of ballots; election malfeasance, committed by elected and appointed officials within the executive and judiciary branches of state governments – as occurred in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan – in violation of state election laws and / or constitutions, thus usurping the plenary power granted solely to state legislatures by the U.S. Constitution (Article 1, Sec. 4, Clause 1, and Article 2, Clause 2) in determining the manner, time and place of elections, and the manner in choosing electors.

Whereas Senator Ben Sasse disregards or is otherwise inexcusably ignorant of the laws governing free speech – specifically that test established by the U.S. Supreme Court in its decision Brandenburg v. Ohio 395 U.S. 444 (1969), which set forth the elements required to judge whether a person’s words violate the criminal code against inciting violence. In light of Brandenburg, and the Court’s unchallenged and unchanged precedent thereof, President Donald J. Trump’s speech of 6 January 2021 does not meet the prescribed elements that establish, in fact and law, an act of criminal incitement;

Whereas Senator Ben Sasse, in defiance of the Constitution’s plain meaning, as to the penalty incurred by impeachment and conviction – removal from office (Article 2, Sec. 4, and Article 1, Sec. 3, Clause 7), now seeks to impeach the private citizen, Donald J. Trump – and thus we now have cause to wonder whether Senator Sasse would also willingly violate the prohibition against Bills of Attainder (Article 1, Sec. 9, Clause 3;

Therefore, be it resolved, in consideration of the remarks and actions of Senator Sasse, as stipulated above in this complaint, and following from our formal deliberation, we the undersigned, individually and corporately, agree and declare that Senator Benjamin Eric Sasse warrants and shall incur the penalty of CENSURE, and further we declare such penalty is now imposed by this lawfully convened body –The Nebraska Republican State Central Committee. CENSURE is decreed and so moved, this day, 13 February 2021.

The fight has to start in the trenches people!

One of AZ’s state legislative senators (BOYER) (20th Legislative district) backstabbed EVERYONE yesterday, in the GOP and the entire state... when you consider the election fraud that took place, and the scumbag has to pay a price.

So does Sasse, Cheney, and the other traitor scum in the GOP.

Sitting behind your keyboards and pontificating isn’t going to get it done.

Besides being a fellow keyboard commando, FWIW, I put in some skin recently by going to DC on my own dime, and I am going to go to the scumbag backstabbing AZ GOP legislative senators office first thing tomorrow to give him and or his staff an ear full.

Thank you bagster for throwing a heater high and inside on the plate!

WAKE UP freepers! You don’t want war but war wants you!

Follow-up on the February 6th meeting in Culbertson, regarding Censure Resolution against Senator Ben Sasse ...

We had a packed house - “standing room only” crowd in the ambulance barn’s community room. 70 people showed up, including myself.

They came from Arapahoe, Cambridge, Champion, Culbertson, Grant, Hendly, Hayes Center, Imperial, Indianola, Trenton, Wauneta, and from various non-town county road addresses.

All 70 were angry with the actions and comments of Senator Sasse.

All 70 signed the petition to approve the Resolution of Censure - and we are still getting signatures from many others (94 signers, so far).

The response of Senator Ben Sasse - to the impending vote on a resolution of censor - only underscores the point that, above all else, he is an arrogant, patronizing political opportunist, who possesses an conceited penchant for disingenuous rhetoric. Moreover, he cares not a wit of the opinions and concerns of his constituents. I could have addressed several of the remarks made by Senator Sasse in his response; but, for now, I will reply to what I consider his most egregiously insulting:

“Politics isn’t about the weird worship of one dude” – Senator Ben Sasse

Senator, this is not about the “worship of one dude.” This is about the American People – that we had a president who fought for our needs and concerns, and delivered on what he promised.

Again, Senator Sasse insults the intelligence of his constituents, attempting by subterfuge to reframe the issue as being a cult of personality, when the principle at issue, and reason for this resolution of censure, is his support of and participation in an unconstitutional impeachment trial.

This is about the U.S. Constitution – and Senator Sasse ignoring the plain meaning of its language. This is about treating matters of consequence contemptuously. And, in my opinion, this is about the envy Ben Sasse harbors against the popularity of Donald Trump. It is Senator Sasse who chooses to make this a contest of personality. If Senator Ben Sasse were the “real conservative” he claims, then the Republican senator would not throw his hat in the ring with the spiteful Democrats, who are hell-bent on revenge against Donald Trump. A “real conservative” would not contradict the plain meaning of the Constitution, as to the penalty incurred by impeachment and conviction – removal from office (Article 2, Sec. 4, and Article 1, Sec. 3, Clause 7); and nor would the senator ignore the First Amendment rights of the former president, in claiming that the Trump’s speech incited “insurrection.” By the legal standard established in the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Brandenburg v. Ohio, President Trump did not incite nor intend to incite violence.

Senator Ben Sasse apparently thinks himself the reincarnation of the “Boy Orator of the Platte” -William Jennings Bryan. His aspirations for obtaining the presidency will end the same way.

Amen! Thank YOU PeterPrinciple for the encouraging words.

Let’s get to work and have every freeper pick out one thing that each person can do in their own circle of influence.

You can’t leave the house because of physical infirmities? Call someone that you know to act as your proxy and have them go rattle some cages.

Pick up the phone and let someone from our side have it and but good.

Write a letter to the editor. Not a run of the mill letter but a letter of call to action for our side.

How about all of the Christian men that are silent in your community? Get their goat and get their butts off the couch or pew, and into battle. Start putting pressure on everyone around you that is asleep at the wheel. The LEFT fights for what THEY want... where in the hell is the RIGHT? EXCUSES don’t cut it any more.

Reload ammo, or walk the picket lines.

Sitting on the sidelines is OVER!

Same goes for Barr and Roberts, to name a few!

Well, as many have stated here at FR, if our votes are stolen, voting is now worthless. Two parties or three, doesn’t matter.

That’s the gist of it all.

But your local efforts are commendable and may have a great outcome at least at the state level. So I applaud what you are doing.

I just asked a pastor what he would do with a church full of warriors. There was no hesitation in his response.

Ask your pastor the same and observe the response.

Another warrior and I are making contact with the local Collegiate Republicans. They need some encouragement. We will buy the pizzas for the next year if that is what it takes to keep them meeting and talking.

Folks, the battle is fought on many fronts. Find some little thing to do to help............................

Most of all I am learning that people want to talk if given the opportunity. They may control the internet but we still have mouths and ears and legs.

Different eyes see different things. We look at Trump and see something else.

Maybe the following sheds some light on the situation. Read it slowly and let your lips move.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Niem%C3%B6ller

Is it possible they look at Trump and see nationalism which in their mind is a bad thing and in truth, some of it is a bad thing. Any ISM is not good. Hitler and nationalism are one and the same for them? Frankly, I am against nationalism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationalism

They are managing for what the DON’T WANT. They don’t want nationalism so socialism and many other things work just so long as it is NOT nationalism. Managing for what you don’t want doesn’t take you to a destination, it leaves you wandering in the desert.

So folks, what do we want? There is great detail here on FR as to what we don’t want.

Question of the day for thinkers. What is an “ism”?

So, the real evidence of apathy. No County party, organization or any evidence of what it takes to kill candidates before they run for office. That said, there are three States right in a row with the very same East West issues not to mention County Republican organizations. NE, ND, and SD
