We had a packed house - “standing room only” crowd in the ambulance barn’s community room. 70 people showed up, including myself.
The response of Senator Ben Sasse - to the impending vote on a resolution of censor - only underscores the point that, above all else, he is an arrogant, patronizing political opportunist, who possesses an conceited penchant for disingenuous rhetoric. Moreover, he cares not a wit of the opinions and concerns of his constituents. I could have addressed several of the remarks made by Senator Sasse in his response; but, for now, I will reply to what I consider his most egregiously insulting:
“Politics isn’t about the weird worship of one dude” – Senator Ben Sasse
Senator, this is not about the “worship of one dude.” This is about the American People – that we had a president who fought for our needs and concerns, and delivered on what he promised.
Again, Senator Sasse insults the intelligence of his constituents, attempting by subterfuge to reframe the issue as being a cult of personality, when the principle at issue, and reason for this resolution of censure, is his support of and participation in an unconstitutional impeachment trial.
This is about the U.S. Constitution – and Senator Sasse ignoring the plain meaning of its language. This is about treating matters of consequence contemptuously. And, in my opinion, this is about the envy Ben Sasse harbors against the popularity of Donald Trump. It is Senator Sasse who chooses to make this a contest of personality. If Senator Ben Sasse were the “real conservative” he claims, then the Republican senator would not throw his hat in the ring with the spiteful Democrats, who are hell-bent on revenge against Donald Trump. A “real conservative” would not contradict the plain meaning of the Constitution, as to the penalty incurred by impeachment and conviction – removal from office (Article 2, Sec. 4, and Article 1, Sec. 3, Clause 7); and nor would the senator ignore the First Amendment rights of the former president, in claiming that the Trump’s speech incited “insurrection.” By the legal standard established in the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Brandenburg v. Ohio, President Trump did not incite nor intend to incite violence.
Senator Ben Sasse apparently thinks himself the reincarnation of the “Boy Orator of the Platte” -William Jennings Bryan. His aspirations for obtaining the presidency will end the same way.
Amen! Thank YOU PeterPrinciple for the encouraging words.
Let’s get to work and have every freeper pick out one thing that each person can do in their own circle of influence.
You can’t leave the house because of physical infirmities? Call someone that you know to act as your proxy and have them go rattle some cages.
Pick up the phone and let someone from our side have it and but good.
Write a letter to the editor. Not a run of the mill letter but a letter of call to action for our side.
How about all of the Christian men that are silent in your community? Get their goat and get their butts off the couch or pew, and into battle. Start putting pressure on everyone around you that is asleep at the wheel. The LEFT fights for what THEY want... where in the hell is the RIGHT? EXCUSES don’t cut it any more.
Reload ammo, or walk the picket lines.
Sitting on the sidelines is OVER!
