If they do, I’m filing for refugee status to go live with my brother or one of my friends.

Actually, it already has...

Old people will leave for states where they can get Medicare

Texas would assume the liability of its medicare recipients. Wow you really don't get things do you?

15% of the population of Oklahoma is on welfare.

All the more reason for secession. Freed from DC corruption things like this could get "cleaned up" and fixed.

This bill is only asking for a vote on whether a plan for succession be created. It could prove to be too complex or otherwise undesirable or maybe not. I think there should be a plan in place. I would vote for that.

I was born in Houston - as a native-born Texan, do you think I’ll have citizenship in the new Republic?

Yes, but only after passing horse riding, gun shooting, and steak grilling certification tests at one of the entry ports.

TOO SOON for this sort of thing. Wait til the tyrant Biden really starts to muck things up. That in about six months then the dissolution wagon will be ready to roll—and a new Nation born—The Constitutional States of America. Our first President, Donald Trump, Vice President Ted Cruz. Capital Austin, Texas. How many states will join? 25-28 is my guess, 2022 the shooting starts.

“People on medicare don’t lose their benefits if they live in a foreign country!!!”

They cannot access their ‘benefits’ in a foreign country, but if they come back to the US, they can use them (assuming they’re paid up, of course).

At least that’s my understanding.

The biggest problem with secession is the number of residents who currently depend on Social Security and other Federal retirement plans they worked for and earned - them Gubmint folks understood the potential ramifications of another Civil war and worked tirelessly over the last 150 years to insinuate the Feds into everything they could for a reason - to maintain control despite what the Constitution says.

I know of expats in HK that still receive SS benefits.

The issue would be not so much those receiving but those in their 50’s that haven’t started yet.
