I know where you’re coming from! One year and 12 days ago we had to put down our little buddy of 17 years. He was 3 mo old after going through both a Shelter & a Rescue before finding his real home. That was the hardest decision of my life. (I was the last family member to agree.)

Pard, same thing happened to me. My border collie had a similar issue. I figured it was a stroke. My heart is with you. Tough decisions. Take care and all the best. Rescue another, I did.

I am so sorry. See what the vet has to say first.

Find a VET NOW that will let you go in with your dog. Some do if they know you are putting your dog down. My dog Sammie is 19 years old. He is declining and I am trying to cherish him in the time I have left. We still go for 2 to 3 walks a day.

He still enjoys his life Pretty Much.

May our great God give you wisdom and strength.

Freeper Friend, I have had to say good bye to two dogs who changed my life. The first was my rottweiler, Ursa, who chose me the day I came to the breeder’s house (rather than me choosing her.) and then our DoberRott mix, Albert, who at 7 was a senior rescue who changed our lives.

Dogs are very special, beautiful creatures. DO NOT apologize for this vanity, please. We FReepers are a tight knit lot, and we (or at least I am) are here for you in this hard time.

My prayers will be with you, sir, as well as with your sweet pup. You gave her a wonderful life. G-d has blessed you with her loyalty and love, and will keep you in this dark time.

Prayers up, my friend. Keep us posted.

Some allow owner in, some might even go to the car. Guess it depends on vet and state.

I would not want my dog going in alone to die. (That happened with one of our seven dogs and we STILL have not gotten over it, that was four years ago) Just makes the whole scenario that much worse.

Nothing is like a basset. If you take her in, just hold her so she knows you are there

sob
best to you

I nearly lost my dog twice this year. Absolutely gut wrenching.

All dogs go to Heaven.

You’ll meet again.

My friend got a sweet labradoodle that had gone through 2 homes and he hit pay dirt with my friend. The first home had 6 kids..... She has had FINN for 6 years now and he is happy as can be..(he’s an only child and spoiled rotten)

I’m so sorry, we are dog lovers here and know the pain very well.

My mother lost her beloved Boxer, “Sport,” last June that she had for 14 years. She still cries at times over him.

I lost my precious black Labrador mix, “Smut” that had in the 1970s, and I still cry over him sometimes and for my other dogs.

Prayers for you and your pooch. Pets are a heartbreak, but they are certainly worth it.

Hang in there. They are better than people. She was lucky to have you for a friend all that time.

My heart goes out to you DallasBiff. You might check with your vet to see if they offer a home euthanasia service. We found one and had them come to the house so we could be together.

It’s always hard to say “goodbye” to a family member, two-legged or otherwise.

I have felt your pain and will feel it in the future with one of my beloved pets.

I’ve heard it said of pets, “The steal your heart, and then they leave.”

Prayers for you..
