Anyone who thinks that teacher-directed zoom meetings and online videos is the same as homeschooling is completely misunderstanding the real benefits of homeschooling.

Texas city forced to shut off water due to winter storm

City officials in Abilene, Texas, announced Monday night that all city water services had been shut off due to the historic winter storm and subsequent power outages.

The city water services were shut down at 7 p.m. local time “as a result of power outages from both power sources at all three of [the] water treatment plants,” the city said in a statement.

Officials said they do not know when power and water will be turned back on....

We must have some awful laws and regulations in the United States so that it is cheaper for a pig farmer, for example, to send carcasses to China where it is processed into individual packages and then sent back to the United States for sale. I do not want to eat food from China.

Yep. I really think the instant feedback helped my boys tremendously... they took a test, we went over it right then and there and addressed what they missed an why and retaught the concept if needed. This was so crucial in math especially.

When they moved on to the next concept, they weren’t lost because of gaps in their knowledge. To a lesser extent this applies to language syntax as well. I remember my son missed the difference between infinitives and prepositions. When he was diagramming, he would confuse the word “to” in “to the park” with “to eat”.

Anyway, I can see now how the skills especially in math has helped them, my youngest is studying accounting in college and it has been a breeze for him. He shows me what he is doing and KNOW that I have missed concepts in my own education, lol. Same for my oldest. Despite having a hands-on career, he still has to do job and materials costing and it is amazing to me how he can work this stuff through. I mean there is software that helps, but he has to know what inputs to use.

He has been a huge help to us figuring out what we need to do in refinishing history basement (for example)

Again, homeschooling taught them to think and work things out. Both of my boys can run circles around me in math. That’s probably why in studies that have been done, the educational level of the parent did not affect outcome of the student. They learn to figure it out.

I had not heard that Harris was making phone calls to foreign leaders. That is outrageous. I did read that P * Biden had a two hour phone call with Xi. This was after I saw the readout about the phone call. The readout was about 20 lines long. It looked like it was the readout from a three minute conversation.

P*Biden is how I plan to indicate that he is the inaugurated President though he got there by massive cheating, same as the asterisk on Barry Bonds baseball in the Hall of Fame. Bonds did hit the home runs, but by massive cheating. Same as record-breaking Tour de France *winner Lance Armstrong. Hat tip to Patrick Byrne.
