Followers of the extremist ideology QAnon saw their hopes once again dashed Wednesday as President Donald Trump left Washington on the final day of his presidency, without any of the climactic scenes of violence and salvation that the sprawling set of conspiracy theories had preached for years would come.
As Trump boarded Air Force One for his last presidential flight to Florida, many QAnon adherents - some of whom had earlier this month stormed the Capitol in a siege that left at least two QAnon devotees dead and others in jail - began to wonder whether they'd been duped all along.

I just want to know why the SF Chronicle can’t just rub shit on themselves and be happy with their “win.”
What a surprise.
Excellent point.
I couldn’t believe the unraveling message in the final weeks among Guliani, Flynn, Wood, Powell... etc.
People can ridicule Q - but it appears to have reached to highest level.
I would guess a large majority of MAGA that stormed the Capital were Q because they believed that was The Storm.
Ashley died needlessly because of it.
It is pure poison.
“Get rid of Q” some suggest.
As the days pass either Q will fade or be vindicated unexpectedly. Q is already being heckled. Isn’t that enough of a scourge?
Isn’t that what freedom of speech is about?
Marjorie Taylor Greene, just elected to the House from Georgia, is still flying the Q Anon flag.
Similar phenomenon and mind-set to the people who think the Rapture is coming on XXX day.
getting organized - whatever that means - will not be easy. all resistance movements historically have had factions and lots of loons. you are so right, though. we have to somehow determine what it is we agree on (strategically and tactically) and then not worry about anything else.
no easy task.
but very necessary.
I believe that the many “prophets” we encounter on youtube are also part of the deep state. Why don’t they just pick up snakes instead of selling snakeoil to the American public? Sheesh, I have never seen so many people with an inside channel to God telling us that Trump will have a second term. Some are still claiming it.
I cant even tell you how many..and it has to be in the many many HUNDREDS...of posts that praised General Mac and castigated anyone who dared question his outlandish claims.
No discernment there for sure.
I guess that is why a psy ops plan is successful. You use people that have a previous respected reputation.
You feed them info and off they run with it.
I’m not sure if Q was a Deep State thing or not. What I do know is every time I went to the Q threads here it was a long windup getting to the posts, no mention of what Q actually said (they depended on the link) and a bunch of folks merrily posting that they were “in” toward the beginning of the thread.
When I once, from exasperation, suggested they post what the Q “drop” was that they were (in theory) discussing I got blasted for DAYS. It was a combination of attacks and requests to stop posting my replies to those attacks as they were “disrupting”.
Bagster had a very high opinion of himself, but since his attacks on me were baseless he really didn’t bother me in the least.
Q was classic disinformation—facts mixed in with fiction to confuse the gullible.
_That_ is our issue with them—along with crackpot “predictions” of bad guys going to jail when _none_ of the bad guys went to jail.
Technically Q was also for the benefit of Democrats as well, it gave them something to focus on. So either they believed it, or were cynical, heheh.
this whole phenomenon reminded me of a few things....first, the Sarah Palin thing. So many people were waiting for her to run; and many of us were obvious that she had moved on, but still enjoyed a little publicity. Much really awful vitriol on here during those days. Second, the Roberts nomination was hotly defended on here by so many hope-filled, trust GWB people. A bunch of us were fighting mad because what we saw....we didn’t like. But again, the vitriol on here was pretty intense.
Of course I remember those because I was on the right side, I guess. Others might remember other intense feuds on here, and probably I’ve been on the losing side of those that I have conveniently forgotten lol.
Just sort of analyzing the patterns here. Not really recommending anything.....just trying to get some clarity. Good, smart, well-intentioned conservative people can be very wrong, or right. I suppose this is how life works.
well, now that we know.....we need to be doing that to the left, not vice versa
there is only one sliver of info that gave me hope
and that was Ezra Cohen Watnick. He was connected to Flynn
But maybe that was the person feeding the disinfo to Flynn.
It all has been a gigantic mess and Trump paid a price for it.
Now we are stuck with at least two years of Dems controlling it all. Not that it matters because most of the GOP is worthless.
Unfortunately, That's an understatement.
There is no qanon. Worldwide— millions of anonymous posters. A large threat to the “media” which has devolved into political propagandists in a totalitarian globalist ascendancy.
He's like a horror movie monster, though. He has been suspended dozens of times but always comes back afterwards. 7 day, 14 day, I think he got a month once.
He was the ringleader and the most prolific, but far from being the only one.
We can hope (probably in vain) that Ransomnote, the hostess of the thread, will take responsibility for what she's done here, and renounce her years-long misguided promotion of Q. That would be a fantastic start. She's been as vehement as Bagster, just not as crude.
The worst thing about the Q phenomena at Free Republic has been the coarsening it's had on the site. There is a whole group of them (Bagster's followers) who were just over-the-top rude and vile to anyone questioning their false idol.
Sadly they have not contained either their attacks on targeted individuals, nor their attack-dog style to the Q thread: it has acted like a virus and subtley spread across the site. You never heard people using abusive 4chan style language here before the growth of the Q thread. "Fag" this and that. Etc.
More than a few long time Freepers left Free Republic after being insulted and harassed by Bagster,s little gang.
JR and his team, as always have the tough job of balancing free speech by a dissident sub-group of conservatives, while trying to keep them from blowing up the whole of Free Republic.
Confining them to the single thread was an inspired tactic, at the time.
At this point though, as others have stated here, allowing the Q people to continue to peddle their discredited cultic beliefs here seems as weird as letting any other 4chan sub-cult, like the neo-Nazis or women-haters, to have a space here.
I'm keeping my fingers that the mods will soon decide that this sad chapter in Conservatism needs to come to an end, both here and in the wider conservative movement.
A lot of grifters made a lot of money peddling Q, they aren't going to fade away easily, despite the fact that the jig is up.
He earned the zot.
They confuse faith in God with faith in men.
