Mozilla Says ‘Deplatforming’ Trump Not Enough, Wants to Shield Internet from ‘Bad Actors’ as Users Uninstall Firefox in Disgust

Mozilla, developer of the Firefox internet browser, has argued that more must be done to keep Donald Trump and other “bad actors” out of cyberspace, prompting many to vow to never use the group’s services again.

In a blog post titled ‘We need more than deplatforming’, the open-source software community said that Twitter’s decision to permanently ban Trump from its platform didn’t go far enough in weeding out “hate” on the internet. While blaming Trump for the “siege and take-over” of the US Capitol on January 6, the non-profit tech group argued that “white supremacy is about more than any one personality.”

“We need solutions that don’t start after untold damage has been done.Changing these dangerous dynamics requires more than just the temporary silencing or permanent removal of bad actors from social media platforms,” Mozilla wrote.

Thanks for posting those many Brave setup tips I only knew about half of them. With your tips, I might like using it more than I do now.

Thanks, I never knew Brave can use TOR when opening a private window. I don’t use Brave that much but I think I might start using it again.

The stupid Conservatives/Republicans haven’t yet figured out how to build their own platforms yet.

Even though they’re computer savvy.

Like, duh! Now you’re reaping the rewards of what you haven’t sown.

Cry me a river.

I believe Brandon Eich started Mozilla and then a bunch of his employees and/ or board members became "woke" and forced him out of his own company when the supported traditional marriage groups.

He then started Brave, which is what I use.

"You’re not paying Firefox when you use it."

Yep. I like firefox, it works. But I love having all those liberal little commie coders sitting there in front of their keyboards typing away for me. And what do I give them in return? Not a damn thing.

I moved to Edge. You can import your favorites to Edge. Very easy and works great. Everytime Mozzilla does an update my favorites get moved. Now that they have exposed themselves as NWO/deepstate/, done with them

Until the first time you need to access that one website that refuses to use the other browsers, only works with Firefox. I have a couple.

My reply 114 above, re BB settings, I made a mistake under Autofill.

I meant:

For starters, I suggest *NOT* allowing any “Autofill” for “Payment methods”

I still remember what these devils did to Brendan Eich.

Me too. I went over there once for a MeetUp (moved to Mozilla HQ at the last minute) and politely asked if the library announced would be available on chromium, as I had stopped using Mozilla for anything due to the smears of Eich. Crickets. Just as a Mozilla person stepped up to address my question, the presenters waived her off and then said they were grateful to Mozilla for the use of the auditorium and the platform support, but they supported all browsers because they were aware of how divisive the Mozilla Foundation's actions were viewed in the Open Source Community, and pointed out that as of the release they were now completely independent of Mozilla. The last bit got a boo from the Mozilla developers present and a cheer from everyone else. The Mozilla people looked a little shocked, I guess they thought of themselves as exemplar of the open source zeitgeist...

I use Cliqz Browser. It’s a fork of Fire Fox, it’s works really well on PC. I use Vivaldi as my alternative to Chrome, it’s a great browser as well.
