So, I joined Gab this morning, and got my confirmation e-mail. I went into the site just to see how it is layed out. Went and read some articles, generally just looked around to see who was posting. I closed down the site, and came back to FR. Then, I just tried to go back into the site and got a 503 error. Gosh, it doesn't take the NSA much time to shut us down. Has anyone else had this trouble. Oh, and CFP has been down for a couple of days. So free speech has been taken away from Americans. Next is freedom of religion. Then the 2A will be challenged. Do these commies realize they have awakened a sleeping giant?
The servers are probably overwhelmed.
Gab and Parler servers are getting overwhelmed with traffic with new users flooding in.
Not everything is aliens or the NSA.
On any of these alternative social media sites, be patient. Most are getting overwhelmed by a big surge in new users and that will take a few days for the site admins to scale up for the new user loads.
Checked when I saw your post and it was up and running.
They and Parler are slammed...they’ll get it done...the blade servers have to be installed and configured...give em time...they had outages last night also.
The Exodus is underway.
Yesterday, “how to deactivate your Twitter account” rocketed up on Goolag.
I had problems with Parler yesterday, which have now seemed to have cleared up.
I am having problems with Gab right now, just as you describe.
Neither platform was prepared for the onslaught of new accounts that have happened in the past 48-72 hours. Both are very small “mom and pop” platforms running on a shoestring, not unlike Free Republic.
Hang in there, it will get cleared up. Don’t expect Twitter-like ability to handle tremendous spikes in traffic immediately. They will need time (and money) to expand their capacity.
A lot of people are joining now. It is slow.
Yup, I joined Parler last night and it wouldn’t let me log in for a while, as if my account didnt exist even though I got a confirmation. Today it’s fine. I can’t wait to see the change in subscriber numbers for Twitter and Parler over the month of January.
They’ve been over run by new grabbers from twitter & attacks. Don’t worry about them. Torba is will be victorious!
Think of FR on some election nights. PredictIt was out for about an hour both in 2016 and 2020 on election night. Capacity costs money and you don’t want to pay for that all year round. Even back-end frameworks that have “elastic” self-sizing features can be slow to adjust. It’s not instant.
When your user base adds 80 million overnight it tends to cause some issues. Give them a few days/weeks to get it straightened out. I will guarantee new server farms are being built at light speed. Money is being thrown at this big time and money buys scaling. They can not afford to go to the “Cloud Providers” and do it that way because you know the plug can be pulled at any time.
I don’t think the NSA works on weekends.....
I deactivated my Twitter account last night and will let it die 30 days from now.
Need to have some patience.
I joined last night when some ham radio friends decided to start a group on gab to get away from fb. It’s very slow and sometimes won’t open because of all the new volume.
ANOTHER quote from the past. Sleeping giant awoken! :)
Along with Tree of Liberty, Nuts,
I have not yet begun to fight..
He’s right. Through EVERYTHING... a first coup, destroying statues, rioting, impeachment and now the final successful coup, I see the same fancy quotes that REAL MEN made long ago.
Er, they took ACTION after the quotes.
We just embarrass ourselves at this point by quoting better men than us that actually ACTED.
To be fair, they didn’t have a laptop and Ottoman to sit and type from.
Just joined GAB, very slow be patient.
Maybe because
Gab.com@getongab
10,000+ new Gab users every hour.
