Watch What Some Thought Was a Werewolf Captured on Video in Yellowstone National Park

This video captured in Wyoming's Yellowstone National Park was shared by Siddharth Gandhi Photography a few years ago. After seeing the video, some claimed this was proof of werewolves or the return of dire wolves based on the size of the creature.

The photographer mentioned this was a black colored gray wolf caught on video in the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone. Last time I checked, there were over 13,000 comments and over 10 million views.

While the video left many with a sense of awe seeing a majestic, and rare endangered gray, others that another reaction based on Facebook comments:

Wolves just don't walk up to lights on a road. Whats the deal?

That's a werewolf!

Looked like a dire wolf which are supposed to be extinct

Grey Wolf? That thing looks like a freaking baby direwolf

Very cool! Looks like a "Hound from Hell"

While werewolves may be fantasy, one author took the mythic creature and setting to craft a horror tale, Ted Stetson's Werewolves of Yellowstone can be found for download on Scribd.

Cathy gets a job at the park and becomes entranced by Blake. Danny and his parents are stalked by a crazy man.

So now that you've seen the video, what do you say, a well-fed gray wolf, or something else?

So does hunger. Wolves would be pretty quick to figure out that they wouldn’t be shot from cars in Jellystone.

Also should be easy enough to estimate ate the actual size of the wo.f since it is standing on a road of known dimensions. Sometimes things look huge but really aren’t bigger than average, or not much larger.

A prime example is trying to guage the size of birds in air. After folks claimed to see “huge thunderbirds” flying around, An experiment was done with a kite made to resemble a bird, it w a s flown high above the trees, , and everyone judged the size wrong, clai ing it was far larger than what it really was. The reason for the misjudgements was that there was no point of reference to judge by

Anyways, just looks like ordinary wolf to me with somewhat wet matted hair due to snow, which makes it look more “sinister and forboding” looking. But, I haven’t seen the video, so hard to judge

Canadian grays wolves were introduced into Yellowstone where they never were before. They are about 50% bigger than the native species was.

Most people have no knowledge that there are different species of wolves so it was easy to fool the public on this.

Yeah, but the potential for roadkill, and maybe the possibility of warmer pavement might entice them to the vicinity. Bears can’t eat cars either...the ones that break into cars in campgrounds might disagree...but people would feed them from the road, back in the day. Not sure why the car was sitting still. Curiosity might have gotten the better of the wolf. Or maybe they were baiting them. Yes, them. I’m sure that there were more outside the headlight illumination.

Why did the wolf cross the road?

To get the chicken.

10 years ago the raccoons were raisin’ a ruckus in the front yard. So I went outside without a gun nor flashlight coz the security lights went on... Got next to the tree n saw sets of eyes reflecting, 2 low to the ground n 2 waist high...I got within 3feet and saw 2 sets of big red eyes set far apart...immediately the 2 big wolves stepped into security light...I said “Wolves!” n ran back in the house. .. When I turned on the spotlight the wolves were still there talking to the raccoons who were right next to them. I
believe they were discussing the quality of the cat food on the porch.
