"...Despite what the marketers and advertisers will tell you, the air fryer was not made for people who are trying to “cut their calories” or “use less oil.” It was made for stoners, dirt bags, and people who enjoy an even lower-effort pizza roll in the wee hours of the morning..."
Before I got my glasses I thought the headline said “Want to make out with your hair dryer?”
I like my fried food the traditional way....slightly greasy but crisp.....
I got one and it’s been emphasized do not use spray Pam in it. Never, ever.
I’ll use it to fry Spam for musubi. 8~)
My potatoes are well cooked in five or six minutes in the microwave!
They are great for re-heating crispy things like fried chicken and/or french fries. And for heating fish sticks and the like. Beyond that....not that useful, really.
Love my air fryer. Especially breakfast. I bake bacon in the oven, but for pork chops, sausage links & patties the air fryer can’t be beat! I use it for chicken, steaks (yes they turn out 2nd only to grilling), and frozen fries, etc.
You should see what the speed oven we gave our mom can do. It’s a combination toaster oven, convection oven, and microwave. It does the air-frying, microwaving, it even proofs bread!
It has something like 10 different settings and multiple programs for each setting.
The thing is amazing. It does everything but the stirring!
sorry for the poor link
I got one as a gift. It makes the food smell like the inside of a stereo amplifier.
Biggest drawback I see is even though a “12 quart” air fryer mine isn’t big enough. It is however several years old and there is now a new generation of these appliances with features like multiple racks and some can be loaded with food from the front.
Having said all that a couple of things we like are Turkey loins or pork loins. Both come out well.
Also, if you do any kind of seafood you must brush on a light coat of oil....especially shrimp, with no oil they turn to rubber. Fish fillets with old bay seasoning or salmon with a salmon seasoning all turn out well.
Smores.
Fried air?
Don’t tell me.
A bomb?
Or a missile?
Wait, it could be both!
We have an air fryer. the thing is YUGE yet holds so little inside.
For all you cooking meats that drip and cause smoke, simply put a bit of water in the bottom. That way when the drippings drip they land in water, walla no smoke, and the water helps the meat stay moist.
Used Air Crisp Function in My Ninja Foodi to do a 3lb Boneless turkey breast this year..... Best turkey I have ever made, moist, tender, full of flavor, 50 mins and done!
Air fryers are awesome.
French fries
Cookies
Bacon
Pies
Cakes
Chicken
Chicken Wings
Sandwiches
You name it!
I use mine nearly every day. I got the food ninja that also has a pressure cooker lid.
I got an air fryer lid for my instant pot. I expect some trial and error.
