The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!
I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal’s Helper below.
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.
One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don’t put the actual words of the quote in the clue.
Clue for today’s puzzle. Simply scroll your cursor over the text while left clicking your mouse, and the letters should appear.

From The Arkansas Gazette
The solution was very easy today. Yesterday’s, not so much.
Merry Christmas.
CHRISTMAS, THAT TIME OF YEAR WHEN PEOPLE DESCEND INTO THE BUNKER OF THE FAMILY. —BYRON ROGERS
ENNH, ONNH, are ambiguous, there are four valid words that can be arranged in twelve ways (permutations of four things taken two at a time) to make a solution, but only one that makes sense.
I decline to post a time. My ten year old grandson was over yesterday (don’t tell Governor Baker) and we did yesterday’s on paper. Afterwards, he said “Let’s do another one.” so I printed the page from the Arkansas Gazette and got this one, which “we” did on paper, untimed.
I saw the author right away, then the rest was easy.
Good one
Yes! Paper and pen...the very best way!!!! Use Hal only if you are stumped.
Speedy Gonzalez-This won't hurt DID IT?
almost took longer to setup than to complete, of course it 'helped' having the author at first glance, fill in and the rest was off to the races....
First one I ever solved. Glad it was “easy.” What’s for dinner?
welcome to the club
I think I told you, I had heart surgery in June. While waiting to go in on Monday, I did it "in my head" (the way I always used to solve them) and then proceeded to do them that way the rest of the week. It takes (me) a lot longer that way, though.
Wow...i’m going to try it that way
