Just wondering if any of my fellow Freepers are, like me, spending Christmas Eve solo.
Unlike previous years, however, I'm not quite alone, as I am now sharing my home with a two year old Greyhound I adopted last Spring.
Other than he and I, it's a cozy, quiet, peaceful and solo Christmas Eve. How about everyone else?
*Guy went and did his Alaska dream.
Spent the Summer planting a garden then built his cabin and some out buildings.
Come October, a man walks up to his cabin and introduces himself.
Was his closest neighbor on the other side of the mountain.
Man invites him to his annual Christmas Party.
Said there will be drink'n, maybe some fight'n and maybe some wild sex.
Guy ask: How many people will be there?
Man: Oh, just the you and me.
Lockdowns Suck.
Made the move, alone, from Fun City to rural WV back in 02. Neighbors kinda adopted me. Had me over all the time for all the holidays, birthdays etc. Over the years some moved, some passed on and now I’m the longest resident of this end of the hollow.....and I’m STILL referred to as “that New York City boy.” LOL
What with all this Covid crap, I’ll be alone also, but tomorrow a buddy will be bringing by a big care package with Christmas dinner goodies.
Been spending Christmas Eve alone with my pup for a while. Watching my favorite Christmas movies.
Die Hard this year is only on HBO!!! That really stinks! After “It’s a Wonderful Life” it’s a favorite.
Friends are coming over tomorrow. Well I’ve been unemployed since March but I had about $100 worth of gift cards from Maggiano’s. Went there this a.m. to order and they said “Sorry but we’ve had too many orders and won’t be taking any more.”
I sorta lost it. Told the manager I’d been unemployed, had gift cards, and that was our Christmas dinner. He said “Come back in an hour. You get priority.” Got teary eyed and told him I’d pay it forward.
And I will. He made my Christmas with his kindness.
A wise priest of 60 years hearing confession once told me that the least confessed sin was Honor thy mother and father. And that many elderly people cried to him that their children ignored them. Loneliness is real but it doesn’t have to be that way. Reminds me of Fulton Sheen and his story of how the worst pain caused to the suffering Christ was being ignored by humanity. To those of you who are alone physically, Christ is in your heart right now. May his peace and joy fill you. Embrace the Christ child in your arms.
Spending Christmas Eve and Christmas day alone for the first time. Husband is in hospital with a Covid induced heart attack and I’m still quarantined until next week so kids and grandkids are staying away to be on safe side. Lot’s of phone calls, texts and FaceTime make it bearable.
Working til midnight at a tv station, called some family earlier today and more tomorrow. Merry Christmas!
Aw, glad it worked out. Merry Christmas!
Spent time with a Veteran buddy, now back home.
Merry Christmas! I’ve always wanted a greyhound! Beautiful breed! The beach we go to has a greyhound rescue weekend annually and they plus their owners take over the town for a convention of sorts. I think they come from all over the country- it’s phenomenal seeing all those gorgeous dogs everywhere on the beach and boardwalk. I have rescue dogs but always have been toy sized and as I age I just stick to what I know.
Happy Birthday!
It’s my 82-year-old Mom and me tonight, watching our Christmas tradition movie “Donovan’s Reef”. We’re having to be satisfied with phone calls this time around.
just me and my four legged son in the big bend area of florida...
storms and winds and no electricity for the past four hours...
oil lamps for light, emergency radios for music, and fr for entertainment...
Merry Christmas to all!!!
Alone this year due to some last minute family travel, except for cats (one is which is a talking cat, so we can have some good conversations).
My stepdaughter is in Japan. Her and her father and wife are heading to KFC tomorrow for Christmas (as was noted in another these, KFC is popular in many areas of JP on/around Christmas). Miss her very much.
I am. My parents passed away in 2016 and 2018. I’m single, no kids or significant other.
Alone and wouldn’t have it any other way. Will spend the next three days with friends and family....
I am alone with ‘3’ cats...lol
Just me and the little lady and no animals. We are watching the boob tube right now. I will be early to bed so I can get up early and see what Santa brought me. I am hoping for a new AR 15. Don’t know if the little lady got me that or not. I dropped a few hints. EVERYONE needs ANOTHER AR-15 for their kit. She has already got the new SUV a couple of months ago. Some people just cannot wait until Christmas!!! :-)
Happy Birthday Sharon and welcome to FreeRepublic. I too just returned from Christmas Eve service to my 2 cats, Ravioli and Mr. Dibblesworth - my kids named them but left them with me.
I got you beat turned 59 last Oct 14th and been a freeper many a moon.
