I would include a recent classic, Christmas Oranges, and favorites from better eras like The Bishop's Wife, Christmas in Connecticut, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Carol, Its A Wonderful Life, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, Frosty The Snowman, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The Muppet Christmas Carol is good and funny.

A Christmas Carol (computer animation, 2009) is scary for kids. Very dark, yet good.

The George C. Scott version is my favorite. I suppose that one was dark and scary at the time.

I don’t really like that movie either. The premise is that if Jimmy Stewart had killed himself, everyone else in the town would be so weak and feckless they would have gone down the tubes, and no one else would have stood up to Mr. Potter. I don’t buy that. It’s like the “High Noon” of Christmas movies.
