This Is The Year To Embrace 'Jewish Christmas' And Order Chinese Food

The COVID-19 pandemic has been tough on Asian restaurants. This holiday season, why not adopt a Jewish tradition by eating Chinese food?

Here’s a very modest proposal for the holidays: On Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, don’t toil over the stove and prepare your usual massive feast for the family. Instead, use the pandemic as an excuse to take a page from Jewish Americans and order some damn good Chinese takeout.

Your local mom-and-pop purveyor of kung pao chicken and sticky rice could probably use the business: Though all restaurants across the U.S. have suffered due to coronavirus shutdowns and restrictions, Chinese restaurants have been hit particularly hard.

According to Womply, a data subscription service, Asian American restaurants have closed at a far higher rate than non-Asian restaurants. And compared with other Asian restaurants, Chinese eateries had the highest rates of closure at 61%.

Some have suggested the dip in business is at least partially due to consumer prejudice toward Asians and Asian Americans in the wake of coronavirus.

I used to work with a Jewish man from Brooklyn who said when his rabbi used to rant about the congregation not staying kosher he’d say “a Chinese restaurant in a Jewish neighborhood will never go broke!”

You don’t get out much.

Jewish Christmas is a wry takeoff on a holiday Jews do not participate in. It is a regional northeastern thing to say.

I think I’d rather go with a Japanese Christmas:

Just tonight I watched two movies. One was "A Christmas Story", made in 1983, and the other was "The Miracle of the Bells", made in 1948.

They both featured Chinese food meals on Christmas eve or Christmas day. Perhaps the tradition does stem from the fact that other establishments are closed on those days.

Lol. Whatever.

And you go looking for drama where there is none. Just a poorly written essay by an ignorant writer.

Leftist philosophy today has dropped class struggle and replaced it with the marginalization of the white race and Christianity in pursuit of the vast demon of oppression

It’s truly quite the pivot to accommodate the west’s success and subsequent mass immigration

Yes, no other restaurants or pretty much anything else was open on Christmas. Sunday nights at Chinese restaurants likewise became a “tradition.” Jews who cared a bit more about the Torah dietary laws would order vegetable dishes. Vegetable subgum chow mein and was a popular “starter” dish for Jews. Over the years, Sunday nights became a common choice. Only a handful of cities had kosher restaurants in those days. Later there were even upscale, strictly kosher Chinese restaurants, like Moshe Peiking in Manhattan. The kosher ones often used bilingual Hebrew/English puns for the restaurant names.

For the record, there was Jewish migration and communities who kept their Jewish practices in China way back at least to the early 1st century B.C.C. There are still Jews in China. Jews were honored citizens. In some areas, like the South of China, schools and government offices closed on Jewish holy days.

You jackasses have been calling us rascist for 9 months now.

Now, I love Chinese food but, I’m not going to put up with your special kind of bigotry.

All restaurants have had their business affected by these baloney edicts.

Until you and few other vocal morons apologize I won’t be eating Chinese again.

I currently eat Filipino, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese.

You can go to hell for all I care

There is a 4% delta in the decline of business from Asian American businesses to what? Regular businesses?

That is not a significant number except that because of the lock downs it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Stop looking for a boogeyman to blame for the downturn in business.

It is the fault of your hack politicians who are doing this.

Put the blame squarely where it belongs or you may find a lot people won’t return to your business because you cast a wide net over huge swaths of people who really liked your restaurants before the Plandemic but, now they suddenly got in touch with their inner Klu Klux Klan?

Gimme a break and bitch at the politicians who can end this today.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/racism-targets-asian-food-business-during-covid-19-pandemic

Pelosi visited The Wok Shop, a temple and the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, which was started 58 years ago by owner Kevin Chan’s mother and uncle.

Chan said his business is losing about $500-$800 a day, or about 70% on average. He believes the fear of the virus is racially motivated.

“I think it’s because even if I walk out and cough a little bit — my throat is itchy — they look at me, ‘Oh,’ like this, ‘scary,’” he said.

https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/nancy-pelosi-visits-san-franciscos-chinatown/2240247/

This was back in February and I want to Mr. Kevin Chan for the concern he has for his fellow human beings and Americans, who instantly stopped going to restaurants everywhere and accusing everyone of being racists.

Yer a self serving prick.

That same week I was in a upscale restaurant that should have been packed.

My friend and were one of three tables in a restaurant that has capacity for 125.

We quit going to restaurants then and hadn’t sat down in a restaurant until September for my birthday.

Now I will post another article from just today where Chinese restaurateurs are still saying we are racist.

Oh, and just to make the point that I am racist I have been eating Pho, Thai, Korean and Japanese takeout but, I have absolutely made a conscious decision to not eat Chinese because of Kevin Chan’s despicable and detestable words.

Again, you all can go straight to hell until you apologize I won’t ever eat Chinese again...
