Thanks. I replied much the same to TexasGator after you replied.
Strikes me as totally useless information. I already take the prophylaxis protocol (minus Ivermectin) so what am I going to do differently with this additional nugget of info?
How so? I don’t see it.
If you know you’ve been exposed to someone who is infected, you can isolate yourself from those at high risk from COVID-19.
For example, maybe put off that visit to the nursing home so you don’t unintentionally “Cuomo” the place.
The only “emergency alert” that I cannot disable on my old android phone is a Presidential Alert. They are found under Settings / Applications/ Messages/ Emergency Alerts on my phone which is admittedly Android 6. Android 6 was released in 2015. That is like an 8 track tape player for your car to phone afficianodos.
Of course I still have my HTC PPC-6700, my first true smart phone which came out two years before the first iPhone. It was much more capable than the first iPhone because it had 3G built in and a plethora of Windows Mobile 5 apps like Word, Excel, texting, and email... Compared to the almost completely worthless first iPhone which was 2G only and couldn’t even send a text. So here we go again. LOL!!!
Paging Swordmaker for how to keep your iPhone from hassling you with Covid exposure notifications.
I never get notifications.
I turned off the kidnapping notifications, weather emergencies, state and national emergencies. Can’t turn off presidential notifications though.
Great reason to leave your phone at home when you go to Church.
How sweet! Except if you live in a populated area or go to the grociery store... after nearly a year everyone has been exposed to Covid. If you are a socially aware Karen and are worried about giving it to Grandma you should just stay away from her all the time and let your relatives help keep her spirits up. She probably prefers them over you anyway.
Fair enough.
These days, if I walk around town for 30 minutes or drop into CVS or Home Depot for 15 minutes, what are the chances that I will NOT pass by somebody who has it? With the ultra sensitivity of RT-PCR, what are the chances that infected person is actually contagious?
If the alarm goes off all the time, then we all hunker down at home all the time. How is that different from what we are doing now?
“It said they don’t use GPS and don’t track your location. Then how would they know if I’ve been close to somebody else who they also don’t track?”
Bluetooth.
Bingo. Turn it off.
Bluetooth.
My sister told of a visit to Starbucks a few years back, standing in line behind a stranger, they exchanged a few pleasantries while waiting for the coffee, then they each went their way.
Later that day she saw a FB recommendation for "people you may know" and it showed the picture of that stranger from Starbucks.
I think our phones are also listening to us, even if we have disabled Snoopy Siri (if that's even possible). Stuff shows up on her phone and mine (since we are frequently together) that flat-out creeps us both out.
I've been carrying my iParasite in a Faraday bag ever since, and disabled all the busy-body tracker doodads I can find, especially now that this Covid Craziness has infected peoples minds, as if the very air we breathe is poisoned with a covid gas or something. I really hate this gadget. I remember party-line phones that hung on the wall, and you had to be home to know if someone called; now people seem to be unable to function without their privacy intrusion device in hand.
You will give them (whoever they are) another method of tracking your movements.
I do not trust.
Well if your conscience is free risking the deaths of dozens of defenseless elderly folks by spreading a contagious disease to them, that’s on you.
You should run for governor of New York.
Depends entirely on the area really, and how crowded the stores are and how long you're spending in there.
"With the ultra sensitivity of RT-PCR, what are the chances that infected person is actually contagious?"
That's currently unknown. What's been shown so far is that most people who are infected don't pass it to anyone. Some pass it to a small number of people. And a small number of people pass it to huge numbers of others. What isn't clear is how much of that is a difference in infectiousness between those persons and how much of that is due to changes in behaviors.
If the alarm goes off all the time, then we all hunker down at home all the time. How is that different from what we are doing now?
I agree that if it's just going off all the time, it has no value. I don't know how exactly this system is set up or operates and I have no data to say this particular implementation works well or is garbage. I was only responding to the question about what utility there would be in knowing you had been exposed to infected persons.
FYI..... this was sent to my older iPhone 7 Max that I only use at home as an iTouch/iPad and never got this Alert to my new iPhone.
I do in fact that it disabled on that device.
“as if the very air we breathe is poisoned with a covid gas or something.”
Isn’t that the truth? People seem to think these dastardly virions are all over the place ready for you to let your guard down for a split second so they can jump up your nose.
Maybe you should run for Governor of California, you are certainly a self-righteous imbecile and that might just qualify you..
Completely baseless attack. I've never done either.
"you are certainly a self-righteous imbecile"
When reason fails, resort to personal attacks and name-calling.
Friend had full family Thanksgiving 18 people.....one works directly with Covid patients. Scrubbed at work, showered at home..joined the gathering. Nobody has any symptoms.
LOL!!! Sure you haven’t... I guess that you have forgotten that we have crossed paths before.
The only thing that you have been commenting on recently is Covid... you are obsessed.
