The ignition lights the fuel air cloud that has filled the air outside the sidewalk and the contained gas in the basement is the main explosive force. This blows the metal sidewalk grate/covers straight into the air. Shown by the second video which suggests something on top of the primary explosion being blasted straight upward. Except it isn’t STRAIGHT upward, it appears to go off about 10-15 degrees to the side. If it is the sidewalk cover then this slight deflection from straight up could be explained by either bouncing off something, like the exterior of a building, or the hinges of the cover creating slight resistance and the slightly deflected angle of flight.

The guy in the RV. He may have nobody for the holidays, living in his RV, went downtown to drink his troubles away and pulled over in an obscure spot to sleep it off. But that night this unfortunate soul picked the wrong spot.

...but that’s just my guess...

Very observant and I agree on the RV theory. I think perhaps he had no where else to go..RV area full...and he parked on a street to rest.

I came across tweets from a miner who said there was a reason to have the explosion in open air. And it seems it hit in the middle of the street and built because of the open air surrounding the site. So one would think it was studied and very well planned to have this effect.

Do you happen to remember the fire in the street grates in California in the mist of the California fires? I wondered then why fire was below the street and no where immediately around. Please comment more here. You really see life through a special perspective.

There’s a truck stop right across the river from downtown Nashville where he could have parked if that was the case.

Sorry Jane. We have three here in our home. Still have Christmas wrapping on the floor here in the living room. Its what Simon looks forward to every year. More food outside for the animals who stop by during the cold nights. Hopefully once your home is back to normal your little member will be better. As we know tender loving Care is needed by humans and animals. I pray your situation is better as the day goes on.

If one comes to our small town in Indiana that's very busy during Christmas..there are several parking lots BUT most people park on the street feeling much safer. Shops and apartments near and too many hidden spots in a parking lot with possible other cars and Vans. Blind spots. I would also park on the street and not a lot.

I once parked my van in a grocery lot once and came back to a damaged van. Because it was in that lot and they even had cameras...I still was responsible for the damage. I will always park on the street now.

Most folks stay up until midnight and right after on New Year’s Eve, to ring in the new year. However this year, we’re going to stay up to make sure 20/20 leaves for good!
