January 6th

Once Upon a Time and not too long ago
The Twelfth Night Of Christmas
was celebrated with a ball
From the Day of Babes Birth
and the 11 thereafter
kith and kin were paid a visit
and friends from far and near
once were paid a call
So on this day I pray in the spirit that this date recalls
Let the gift of homage of kings gain
in the spirit of the days this season yet remain
ere it wane
Be thine Blessings Great
and misfortunes thee none befall

This poem is an abbreviated version from my websites poetry page which shows how the Christmas season was observed by Catholics in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood during depression times and WWII.The page also lists the differences from traditional Roman Catholic Christmas observance and the present after Vatican 2.Which eliminated a period of mortification during the advent period of fast and abstinence or reducing emphasis on observing feast days such as Immaculate Conception December 8th and the 12th day of Christmas known as the Epiphany January 6th.Resulting in listing Epiphany no longer on most calendars because of the decision to observe Epiphany to a Sunday following Christmas the 25th and New Years which was then known as the feast of Circumcision later named The Presentation when Jesus was presented in the Temple .

" Jupiter and Saturn will line up to create what is known as the "Christmas Star" or "Star of Bethlehem"

These are not stars weith their own light, but planets merely reflecting the light shed by our local star, the sun. Attributing some religious meaning to this conjunction which is only adventitious is nothing but anoyjer attemop to capitalize on a regularly occurring event.

In opposition to this travesty, it is the Southern Cross whose slow disappearance beyond the horizon led the Magi of Padan-Aram year-by year further and further south toward Jerusalem and the slightly higher hill of Judah's Bethlehem, bringing the astronomers to the area two years after the birth of Mary's son, to see the Judean King-child, the Only Begotten Son of The God.

Thus if this rare conjunction took place on the year (about 4 B. C.) of Jesus' birth, then it wasn't that which led the wise men from Anatolia, north of Jerusalem. to see Him. They were not there at the Nativity at all, as the imaginative fiction of story-tellers have made it.

Alpha Crucis, the brightest star of the Southern Cross constellation (click here), with its Crucifix symbolism, can still be seen from the latitude of Brownsville, Texas. That is the Star of Bethlehem.

It should more rightly be called the Star of Nazareth since that’s where the Magi went, to a house (not a stable) to see a 2-year-old child (not a baby).

Since 1802 the Saturn and Jupiter conjunctions have been occurring in earth signs, with the final one occurring on May 28 of 2000 in Taurus. After the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius in 2020, there will continue to only be conjunctions between Jupiter and Saturn in tropical air signs until 2159.

Thus 2020 is at the end of a two-hundred-year era of Jupiter and Saturn uniting in earth signs. While the earth element signifies focus on material security and consolidation of resources that is resistant to change, the era of air will bring disruption to established orders and dramatic changes in collective ideas and the way we communicate. Vitally, not only will Jupiter and Saturn be uniting in Aquarius, they will also be forming a catalytic square aspect with Uranus in Taurus. At this pivotal moment in our journey, the lightning bolts of Jupiter and Uranus will not only bring down old societal structures but will also impel us to release old personal dreams and drama we have been attached to. There will be new challenges and unknown potential arising as we begin a new era of Jupiter and Saturn that we will need to make space for in our lives.
