To: who knows what evil?
Checked the stats, here they are:

Deaths jumped up for a bunch of different places beyond baselines from the previous 5 years all in March/April.

Weekly deaths have been well above the threshold for excess deaths every single week since March. That threshold is taken from looking at previous years week-by-week and stretching historical patterns to account for normal variation. Going beyond that threshold is unusual. But every single week since March we've been way past it.

Deaths for all other causes are normal or slightly higher, so things aren't being taken away from other causes and put into COVID-19.

Seems like we're at about 310,000 deaths above normal so far this year.

Look, the deaths are happening. Let's stop playing that game because it just sounds ridiculous at this point. What we should be focusing on is WHY there have been so many deaths and all the failures in state and local governments making things so much worse than they need to be. I think the key points are policies like forcing nursing homes to accept known-infected patients (this along caused tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths), the failure of state and local governments to do anything to protect vulnerable people, and the panic inspiring lockdowns/shutdowns that drove people en masse into grocery stores and Costco, leading to shortages of some supplies and massive numbers of people in small, confined spaces which pumped up infection numbers.

Focusing on these things makes sense. Trying to live in Fairytaleland where nobody is dying of COVID-19 doesn't. Trying desperately to hold onto that narrative leads to things like attacking doctors who come on here and tell you what they're seeing in their hospitals or attacking people who tell you their family is fighting the disease. Objecting to the political class's failed policies and responses is one thing. Attacking allies for presenting reality is unhelpful to say the least.

Excess deaths are simplistically calculated by the CDC based on a mean number of deaths from the previous few years. Why don’t they have a single actuary employed there to project a demography adjusted normal death rate. My point - Expected deaths were always going to be higher this year due to the mean average age climbing.

It’s just the flu, bro.

‘Look, the deaths are happening.’

oh, yeah, aren’t you the one that said if a guy falls off a ladder, and cracks his skull, and postmortem testing discovered viral infection, then classifying his death in the covid total is legit...because the virus caused him to be disoriented or short of breath or whatever...

you are positing that any excess deaths are, if not totally, then primarily due to covid; something you have no way of knowing, but something you’ve been saying for a long time...
