The very utterance of my mouth is proof.

If a doctors note is required, get a note from a friendly doctor and show it.
I know it sucks, if it’s not worth losing your income over.
Invoke HIPPA on him.
I live in N Nevada rural—on over 5 acres.
MY lovely Governor-—SISSY PANTS-—has declared that we all MUST wear a mask at all times—In the house—out of the house—alone -—or with anyone else.
24 hours a day no exceptions.
It is over 70 feet from my mouse to the nearest perimeter fence line.
He cannot enforce this and I will NOT wear a mask by myself inside or outside my own home.
Clear case of Hostile Workplace with that King response. California is extremely friendly to the worker in lawsuits.
Watch the airline scene in Rainman. Then just learn the Dustin Hoffman part there. When they put the mask on you, do what he did. That’s all the proof they should need.

You're an angry trouble maker here and apparently you are one at work too.........
Wearing a surgical mask is no imposition at all—you barely notice it’s there. An N95 is better, but a bit more effort to breathe through.
I ordered these for a friend who has asthma, they were recommended to me from someone who wears one 8 hours a day and says that it really makes a big difference. He made his on a 3D printer.

Breathless and blind is no way to go through life!
My brother is an electrical engineer with a tech company...maybe 150 employees. Extreme rules have been put in place by HR, and they readily hint (from HR, not the chief) that if you don’t obey the rules...easily dismissed.
Course, the company went and offered up home-office hours to the max. In a whole month, I doubt if my brother has worked more than 40 hours in the building.
The problem here...the virus ‘sticks’ to surfaces and in a cooler environment...they stick longer. So just one single idiot with a group of three....in an area built for 30 employees....could easily go and deliver the virus to the surfaces.
Maybe in a warehouse, or in a tire-shop...you could skip the mask business. But in an office or work-shop...it’s a problem.
That sounds like a violation of HIPAA.
IANAL
Tell him that because a surgical mask is medical waste, that he needs to supply you with a new mask everytime you get up and return to your desk and that you want a certified medical waste bin next to your desk and that he needs to have a medical waste company pick it up at least once a week.

JMHO
Also, don’t be mad at your employer. It’s not their fault. I know it sucks. People are suing employers for wrongful death if their family member contract disease at work and they will probably win in court.
My advice to Vendome: Eat beans the night before work. Pass gas while standing next to your boss the next day. If he smells it and is offended, explain to him that masks protect against the virus about as well as two or three layers of clothes protect against odors.
