Wast just informed by my boss I will be asked to go home if I don't wear a mask while on premise.
Informed him of my anxiety condition and he said get a doctors note.
Informed him the are I work in is 900 Square feet and I am generally the only person in that office and "the rules" say I am exempt from a mask under those conditions.
"Go tell your king newsom but, that is the way it is" he replied.
"If you have to wear a mask at the grocery store, you can wear one at work" was another answer.
Mthfkr! When I go to a grocery store I am in and out. I don't shop for a full weeks groceries anymore because I cannot have that damn thing on for very long without getting highly anxious.
Regardless, you are imposing a draconian measure where there, even if this whole thing is a fraud, clear rules such as:
If you are interacting with another person and within six (6) feet of each other.
If you cannot maintain a distance of more than six (6) feet you are required to wear a mask.
and On and On
1. I do not work near anyone at all. Colleagues are in another room. My desk is 25-30 feet away from my office door.
2. I do not have to interact with them to even do my job.
3. I can totally do my job out of the office. One wonders why they handed me a laptop and a cell phone.
I completed an order just the other day without coming to the office.
*** “What about a bandanna?” ***
I just went shopping w my bandanna.. as soon as I got inside I pulled it down, even checked out face exposed, the young lady was so sweet ... I pulled it back up to cover my face as I exited ... 3 steps and pulled it back down
Went and got Gas and there was a problem w the pump ... (didn’t clear) young lady came out without a mask ... I was in LOVE, tis a shame as I am so Old.
You just need to push back or change your name to Karen
If Karen asks or demands just tell her you have a Lucky Rabbits Foot on the rear view mirror and an Immune system, both work better than a mask.
HIPPA. He is not entitled to know your medical conditions. He can’t ask you for a doctors note. It’s an invasion of privacy.
***”You could also simply get another job, if you don’t want to follow your employer’s rules”***
Actually the gears in my head were spinning like “I hope his Wife is Good Looking” because I’m about to have some free time... good looking or not I just became available.
Dunno if a Karen bitched but, I walked in this morning and saw my colleagues looking like they had beaten into submission.
Very uncomfortable to observe and then he laid into me.
I am not some lay down pussy.
already did the math on this and the consequences, which I see as an eventual outcome.
Like I told another poster: I am prepared for what they might view as a consequence, which I view as an eventual outcome.
Rather not have a consequent issue but, really tired of being hassled when I can not breathe and I’m not going to try to reprogram my head around something I have already experienced and tried to resolve.
At this point in my life I just don’t bother with what ultimately result in and panic/anxiety attack and run out the door to escape it...
It’s all really funny since I will do anything for a laugh. Helicopter snowboard, jump out of a plan, crawl through tunnels(even with spiders and icky things around me)
But, elevators and crowds and now I guess masks are just not things I do without a real consequence
No way I would sit there.
I use to hustle for seats on Broadway and If I go to a movie I go well after the initial opening and try to go early in the day so there auditorium is near empty...
I am willing to testify that half of Free Republic users suffer anxiety and are paranoid about masks, if that will help.
And if you can do the job from home, they really should let you.
I also have anxiety with a mask (I was choked and smothered by some psycho a long time ago and think that has something to do with it). What I did was get some white tulle from the fabric shop and made my own. It’s a bit scratchy. You make them by folding them accordion like and then tape over the nds and staple a rubberband to each end through the tape. Lots of Youube videos on how to do it but it takes about one minute.
The tulle mask is a bit scratchy but I can breathe and because it’s white it almost looks like a real mask. No one has said anything when I wear that one.
I also made some out of fishnet with large holes, those are black, very comfortable and it was only recently that anyone said anything. Two people were in awe, one was a Karen at Staples who didn’t say anything but got a disgusted look on her face.
You’ve got to pick your battles. An employer who treats you like it appears yours does is not someone to fight. If you don’t want to get a note from your doctor (honestly they treat us like kindergarteners), what I might do is have it hanging from my ear and if he comes in, slip it over my face until he leaves, then take it off. You always want to act like it was just an oversight, you’d taken it off to speak with a customer as it’s hard to talk to people with the mask on, they can’t hear you.
I find when you push against something (your employer) it makes them push back harder. If you pretend to acquiesce, they pretend not to notice you’re not doing what they want.
Go to Your Doc. Ask for any one of the 87,947+/- Anxiety pills that are available these days, preferably the least expensive. Start taking them and have a Note from Your Doc informing Your Employer that on top of the Anxiety You have from wearing a mask the additional stress that Your employer has caused with the demanding that You wear the mask and visit Your Doctor as requested by Your Employer, You now have to take these Prescription Medications daily.
Due to All of this Your Stress and Anxiety levels have increased and You will have to contact Your Attorney and file a Lawsuit for unfair treatment. (Or whatever Your Attorney feels is a better description for Your New Condition.
Welcome to the stoopid goverment New Payroll. Do nothing and get Paid Plan.
Nope.
I am in sales and the only real responsibility is to production of sales.
Even workers have rights and they can make accommodations:
Besides, not everyone is wearing a mask around here anyway.
The following individuals are exempt from wearing face coverings at all times: Persons younger than two years old. These very young children must not wear a face covering because of the risk of suffocation. Persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering.Nov 16, 2020

and that is just that part.
The other part is:
If there is a mask policy at work, you can ask for a reasonable accommodation. We recommend that you make your request in writing. You must go through the interactive process with your employer, The “interactive process” means you and your employer need to work together to determine what accommodations will allow you to do your job safely and effectively. For example:
Working different hours
Doing different job tasks
Working from home or in a space away from co-workers and the public
If your employer cannot accommodate you, you may be able to get paid or unpaid leave. Some types of leave will allow you to keep your job even if you cannot work for a period of time.

There is no reason why I can’t work remotely. I am in outside sales.
I can do my job from a cruise ship.

sorry man but there is no way ADA will cover anyone during the covid fearmongering
a mask is a symbol of subservience not safety equipment
So, do you go to the hospital and tell the docs and nurses not to wear masks, as they are mere symbols of subservience?
good point but hospital is not the same as this man at the office
What’s the difference? Is there some physiological difference between nurses and regular people?
There are drugs for anxiety that work very well....I take them and have for a long time. your doc should be able to help.
Lorazapam is one they give you when you go to the hospital. It takes you feel relaxed about things that might worry you.
Good luck.
