If it keeps on raining, the levee’s going to break.

What happens on Jan 20th, 2021?

By that point a President will have already been elected one way or the other. If neither candidate has a majority of the Electors on the day the Congress meets to tabulate the Electoral College's votes, the House will elect the President and the Senate will elect the Vice President.

Someone gets inaugurated as President.

I was thinking about this.

Prefer Pelosi to Harris.

Flame away!

Who is next after Nancy?

That depends on what happens on December 14, 2020.

Civil war happens. What do you think? Do you think one half of the country is going to let Crazy Nan take over the Whitehouse? At that point I’ll be out in the street. This election is going to be decided long before Jan 20th.

December 14 is the Election Certification. Won’t somebody have to be decided by then?

The courts should not take months to resolve this. The Electoral College vote is already established for a date in December under Federal law (the Monday after the second Wednesday in December), and the court challenges will almost certainly have to be resolved before that.

In a surreal scenario where bedlam and uncertainty still exists by that EC date, it would not be out of line for the legislatures of the contested states to vote on their own slate of electors to send to the Electoral College vote.

All of the contested states except Nevada have REPUBLICAN legislatures.

As I said last night as this drama began to unfold ... the U.S. is going to get an awesome lesson in civics and constitutional law over the next few weeks.

Possibly. It’s been wargamed, and there are plenty of other possibilities, though.

Last time (only time) this happened, 1876, the R’s and D’s got together and compromised. Before they did, though, there were some troop movements.

I was ridiculed for putting forth that proposition. Go back and check.

No one wanted to believe the motivation to stay out of prison would be sufficient to blatantly cheat like this.

Fox calling VA with 1% was the early tell.

The legislators can pick the electors anyway.
They have that constitutional right, and there isn’t anything that can be done to stop it. Although, will they have the balls to do it?

BTW, republicans have majorities in both the house and senate in WI, MI, PA, GA, and AZ

If there is no one with a majority on counting day due to contested EVs or what ever, the election goes to the House and each State gets one vote for President. Assuming no defections, Trump wins since Rs hold the majority of House delegations. Similarly, the VP choice goes to the Senate, and since Rs hold the Senate. This takes place on Jan 6. So the only way Biden wins is by stealing the election NOW. Pelosi is not a part of that process, she only gets to be President after she assassinates Biden and Harris after they’re sworn in.

The election court battles have to be done before December 14th so the electors can transmit their votes to Congress.
