Near 20 minutes of original film footage from the presidency of Warren G Harding, the 29th President of the United States. Mr. Harding was president from March 4, 1921 - August 1, 1923 when he died. Harding is poorly ranked by most historians, but I regard him as badly underrated. Harding's accomplishments...
* Reduced taxes from 77% under Wilson to 56%. * Inaugurated the first interstate highways. * Strongly supported civil rights after the racist Wilson years. Supported a Federal anti-lynching bill that passed the GOP lead House but died under Democratic filibuster in the Senate. * Made some excellent appointments to Federal Offices including Andrew Mellon as Treasury Secretary, Herbert Hoover as Commerce Secretary and Calvin Coolidge as VP. * Strongly supported and lobbied for the world's first successful arms limitation agreement, the Washington Naval Treaty of 1923.
Points against him... * He openly drank in the White House when the Volstead Act was in force. * He did appoint several men to office who sadly proved unworthy of the public's trust. * He cheated on his wife.
Very informative.
Joe Biden used to watch him on TV.
thanks... pretty interesting
Thanks for posting.

One of the points in his favor was that he was (along with his successor Calvin Coolidge) an immigration restrictionist, favoring and supporting laws that reduced immigration.
Biden knew him.................
Cut taxes.
Biden knew him.
"'Thomas Jefferson once said, 'We should never judge a president by his age, only by his works.' And ever since he told me that, I stopped." -- Ronald Reagan
It's worth remembering that in 1801, when Jefferson became president, the US national debt was around $100 million, about 10 times annual federal revenues. This was literally "the cost of freedom," and would correspond today to a national debt around $30 trillion. Since our actual national debt is $13+ trillion, the government is in better financial shape today than it was in Jefferson's time. And at the time, Jefferson's number one priority was paying down the national debt. So, how did he do it? How does ANY wise government ever increase its revenues? Yes, that's right! JEFFERSON REDUCED GOVERNMENT SPENDING AND CUT TAXES. -- BroJoeK
Thanks BroJoeK, and for that matter, thanks President Jefferson.
