Actor Sean Connery, the big screens first and most revered James Bond, has died, his family said Saturday. He was 90 years old.
Connery died peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas, having been unwell for some time, his son told the BBC.
Best known for his seven turns as Bond, beginning with 1962s Dr. No, the Scottish-born Connery freed himself from agent 007s debonair typecast to play myriad other roles across a decades-long career filled with accolades, including an Oscar, two BAFTA awards and being named People magazines Sexiest Man of the Century in 1999.

RIP 007
The ONLY Bond. James Bond.
A VERY good run old chap.
RIP
He will always be Daniel Dravot to me.
RIP
>>>RIP 007<<<
I think it’s up to RIP 020 now. He keeps dying (at least on Free Republic). I get a kick out of the one that said, I searched and couldn’t find anything posted and there was already four posted!!!
I enjoyed his roles.
Another one passes, and reminds of us our fallibility.
I don’t see much in the way of replacement of these people.
And one of the best looking gentlemen on the planet, well into old age. RIP, Mr. Connery.
Exactly!!!!!!!!
A real actor...loved The Man Who Would Be King...great movie.
Hunt For Red October and Highlander were my favorites other than Bond movies....
RIP, God Speed and my God Bless...
The latest incarnation of 007 is going to be an androgynous looking black woman, no figure to speak of, but with a glum, bored expression. If Michelle Obama had a slim, younger sister, it would be her.
Sad news. Longtime fan. Rest in peace Sean.
Ian Fleming personally advised Sean regarding his role of James Bond. I think he was pleased with Connerys portrayal.
Great actor. Loved him ‘Time Bandits’, but his best was ‘The Wind and the Lion’
Okay, one regret...
