Back when I was a big beer drinker, that was my go-to brew (despite my screen name) and always had it in my refrigerator. I've gotten it on tap a few times and even better!
Dick Yuengling is also making a Hershey’s Chocolate Porter for the Holidays. It’s made 20 miles from me and I wouldn’t walk across the street for a Yuengling.
Then you'll probably like the Cricket Hill Brewery "Tour" ! (6.5 minute video)
ML/NJ
Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is my favorite these days.
Moosehead
When I didn’t see Modelo, Tecate or Dos Equis on the list I knew they wasn’t serious. I grew up on Mexican Beer.
Closest thing to a “normal” beer is Sam Adam’s. Which I like. Which around here is 8 bucks a 6 pack. Which I can’t afford on account of....well I just am not gonna pay that just to drink beer. Plus. If you are say, playing golf. And it’s hot outside. Most, if not all of these beers are heavy and to me cloying when you are in the heat or exercising. I’m canoeing or tubing down a creek. I’m gonna take a 12 pk of Brasserie Dupont, in glass bottles, on an 8 hr float?
I like a good stout. One or two. Guiness stout on this list? Must be “best beers by the keg” because Guiness stout in a bottle or can (Can stout!) is an abomination.
I brew beer. I have a bar litterally 50 feet from my office. 50 feet from the chair where I’m typing now. They have approximatly 50 different types of beer for sale. 15 on tap.
I am friends with the owner. Just got back from a golf trip with him and 14 others. Do you think he kept a case of Toppling Golath in the fridge at the Condo? There are a couple of these “best beers” on the wall and a few more in bottles in the cooler. So, if those are “the best” then why aren’t they the best selling?
Because most all of these beers listed are “Craft Beers”. Limited production. Meant to be different. Complex and bold flavors. Some exotic ingredients. Different than what most people would normally drink. But “the best”? Heck, I try to introduce folks to some of these beers and the reaction I get mostly is “how the hell do you drink this?!!!”
Anyway. Good list. I’ll drink the occasional IPA or Stout or Porter but I’m sticking to good ‘Ole Coors light!
I’m not an IPA person; I’m malty, not hoppy.
In the summer, I like a lighter pilsner while cooking on the grill after a day of working in the yard. In the winter, something a little heavier, like a red or amber ale. My favorite is Great Lakes Brewing Elliot Ness. Hard to find around here, but I’ll take it when I can get it.
Chimay Blue = YES PLEASE! Also pretty much any abby ale is good. I like Orval too.
We used to get these in the grocery store but they seem to have dropped them. Maybe supply is low.
Too many IPAs on the list. I have been over the IPA craze for 10 years now. Not that I don’t like one on occasion, but I prefer stouts when I want something rich and hefeweizen when I want something light.
I’ve had them all...good post!
Pale Stale Ale, mmmmmmmmm
That is one passionate beer guy.
I like Moosehead. At least I used to. Haven’t had it in a long time. Maybe it’s time to try it again.
For a treat, especially in the winter when oranges are in season, I’ll get some Blue Moon.
This is like a list of best songs. Or best pizza.
Everyone has their favorite. Thats the best for them.
I used to like Gennessee Cream Ale.
I couldnt afford anything else. So it was the best.
I respectfully disagree. Its all about the Ambers.
For years I bought 16 ounce cans of Carling Black label because it was $9/case. If I wanted a fancy import I would get Fosters (Australian for beer) for $11.
