Yes, something has me puzzled!

Lying awake, going over in my mind all of the arguments and debates about doing away with fossil fuels brings me to what seems an unanswerable question!

How will a 747 fly?
Windmills, batteries or possibly men shoveling coal into the steam engine?

Yes, I know that I'm being an ass for making such a wasteful post but .. I assure you, this really is a subject that interest me!

I am a former commercial carrier pilot myself.

Now where would they put that windmill? 8-)

That’s the beauty of AOC think. You don’t have to figure out how to accomplish the stuff you dream up.

You don’t see a problem with that?

How does a 747 take off if the wind isn’t blowing is one question I would have.

Honestly folks, I Know that this reads like a sarcastic/comedy post but I would really like to know if there is a valid answer!

After all, the government is willing to bail out the airlines!
Why?

If fossil fuels are done away with .. No More planes?

Solar cells on top of the wings.

Take off early in the am.

Climb way way high.

Glide to destination when dark.

I recommend you listen to this TED talk. It talks about the impossibility to develop technology for useful renewables; it also says that you have to choose between climate change or preserving the environment, that renewables contaminate so much more than oil and gas, and then it makes the case for nuclear energy. Only 17 mins. Worth watching to have quick responses should you enter into a discussion with a liberal.

A ‘propeller’ is a device placed on an ‘axle’ driven by an engine, to propel, or pull, a vehicle, either of aero or nautical design.

A turbo- or fan-jet engine is comprised of fans, (internal fans of a sort), that propel an aircraft, and or ship.

For either of these, fuel is the one commodity that feeds both designs and allows them to perform greater duties, than a solar-powered or pedal-powered craft.

“To rid ourselves of the commodity of fuel, would place the nation to assume the attitude necessary to self-install the Congressional-supplied phallus, in the plain view of all those nations that hate us.”

There is a problem with all the answers: propellers, windmills, butt plugs(lol) .. how do you build these propellers, windmills .. without fossil fuels?

I thought that part of the Green New Deal was that there would no longer be airplanes (for the little people of course).

They say all transportation would be high speed rail. Not sure how they plan to build that over the ocean though.

It’s amazing to think that a single gallon of gasoline has enough energy to move a 5000 lb vehicle 15 to 20 miles. Tough to beat!

You put a wind turbine on the plane to power it’s New Electric Jet engines. It will have infinity range.
