A team of geologists at the University of Houston College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics believes they have found the lost plate in northern Canada by using existing mantle tomography imagessimilar to a CT scan of the earth's interior. The findings, published in Geological Society of America Bulletin, could help geologists better predict volcanic hazards as well as mineral and hydrocarbon deposits.
"Volcanoes form at plate boundaries, and the more plates you have, the more volcanoes you have," said Jonny Wu, assistant professor of geology in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. "Volcanoes also affect climate change. So, when you are trying to model the earth and understand how climate has changed since time, you really want to know how many volcanoes there have been on earth."
Wu and Spencer Fuston, a third-year geology doctoral student, applied a technique developed by the UH Center for Tectonics and Tomography called slab unfolding to reconstruct what tectonic plates in the Pacific Ocean looked like during the early Cenozoic Era. The rigid outermost shell of Earth, or lithosphere, is broken into tectonic plates and geologists have always known there were two plates in the Pacific Ocean at that time called Kula and Farallon. But there has been discussion about a potential third plate, Resurrection, having formed a special type of volcanic belt along Alaska and Washington State.
Using 3-D mapping technology, Fuston applied the slab unfolding technique to the mantle tomography images to pull out the subducted plates before unfolding and stretching them to their original shapes.

I’m admitting to nothing that might be found by the Government Interwebs Spy Division (GISD).
I blame it on watching the news.
It appears to be Friday Eve. The kitteh appears to be glad to see Friday Eve.
Happy Friday Eve, everyone.
Yep, another rabbit hole ......
Happy Thorsday. Thor seems to believe we want to experience a taste of Scandinavian weather. He is wrong.
I’m going to make some tea and get going on cleaning. Only nine more days until the Advent Kitteh!
I try to buy certain things every time I’m at Walmart but this Walmart is crazy. I didn’t need toilet paper this time, but I bought it because the shelves, which were basically full, were beginning to look bare.
The insane thought crossed my mind this morning that even though the economy is recovering, things are off the shelves because the Left has secretly sent orders to manufacturers to keep things in short supply so we’ll get used to it when Biden/Leftists take control of the country. (It took a lot longer to type that than it did for the original thought to form and present itself in it’s full horror.)
So Clean Shower and Ivory dish soap are both on my list for Tuesday, as well as a birthday card for James. I don’t even know his address!!
That’s just it. I don’t watch the news. I get my news from FR. If I see something on Facebook, I’ll immediately check FR to see if I can see an article on the subject. If I don’t, then I don’t pay attention to the “news” on FB.
I can’t even recall when the last time was that I watched the news. The only thing I’m interested in, anyway, is the weather and sports. ;o] Both of which I can get online from the individual agencies.
Can you text him and ask his address?
I think individual decisions and market forces explain the spotty supplies at Walmart. That reminds me, don’t forget to get coffee filters.
Today is National Carbonated Beverage With Caffeine Day. Make of that what you will ...
Yes, and I will, but I'll wait for a bit before doing that. I don't know his hours or if he shuts his phone of at night.
I'm sure you're right about the supply lines, but CFIDS does weird things to my mind. And don't forget coffee filters. I have a few here, if you run out.
;o]
I have 3 left, so it’s not an emergency. We’ll try the Food Lion. People forget about the Food Lion!
Okay... Please add...
I always liked the Food Lion when we lived in MO. I wonder if there are any in Cabot. My Favorite Son took me to a store that wasn’t Walmart and it wasn’t Kroger, but I can’t recall the name. Food King? Maybe? I need to check!
In the meantime, here’s some light reading.

Done. This list is for the Morning Kitteh only.
Cheated Death Again: Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
We found the coffee filters at Food Lion, then picked up my watch at the jeweler (new battery, cleaned), and then dropped some snacks off for the homeless at the Platkos’ house.
My watch looks very nice, and it won’t turn my arm black when I’m out in the rain, now. And hopefully, it will stop stopping.
“Darling little accent...”
ROFLOL!
“Hey Wilber! Come ‘n’ listen to this Darling lil’ Accent Y’all”
:D
I have to buy either gold watches or stainless steel, and this last one is stainless. I broke the crystal on it and when I had it replaced, the jeweler didn’t even bother to clean the tiny crystal shards off the face of it. But it was either his shop or Vegas, and I wasn’t going to go into Vegas. Maybe Cabot has a nice jeweler.
I’ve just been printing out stuff for Tuesday’s recertification and contract signing, and the migraine is making my life ugly. So far, I have about 1/2” worth of documents and I’m not done, yet.
I’m glad you got the filters!
Tomorrow, I’ll go get the haircut, but I think I need to call them and find out when they open. Normally, it’s been 0800, but these ain’t normal times! I don’t want to hang out some place for an hour, or worse, come home and have to turn around and go back.

LOL!!
Y’all got that right, Pard!
Thank you.
I sometimes wonder if English people think I have a darling little accent.
LOL!
